About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Leeanne and I hold an MSc in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I am a trauma-informed psychotherapeutic counsellor with over 26 years’ experience supporting frontline emergency services.
I work with a wide range of issues including relationship difficulties, burnout, grief, trauma, and anxiety, as well as supporting male and female survivors of sexual abuse, circumcision, and domestic violence.
I support individuals affected by complex trauma, including sexual violence and bereavement through homicide. This background has given me a deep understanding of how overwhelming experiences can shape emotions, relationships, and identity over time.
I believe everyone has the capacity for growth, healing, and change. Reaching out for support can feel difficult, and taking that step often reflects strength and readiness for something different.
My approach is collaborative and centred on your unique needs. Together, we explore what is happening for you in the present and develop a shared understanding of how your experiences are impacting you. I tailor our work using a range of therapeutic approaches, at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
Practice description
I understand that your journey throughout life may have brought you to a point of feeling overwhelmed, consumed and stuck resulting in not being able to progress as you would like. It may help to find someone who will help you to begin to make sense of these emotions, gain some clarity, think rationally and work towards a peaceful and more optimistic future.
I work with therapeutic modalities that suit your specific emotional needs, ranging from Humanistic, CBT, Gestalt and Systemic therapy. I will help you to develop your self-awareness, find your true self and empower you by gaining an understanding of how and why you react to certain situations, in turn, enabling you to manage your emotions and life more effectively. By understanding why you make certain choices, that may not always be in your best interests, will allow you to discover yourself through therapy. This awareness will enable you to accept and value who you are.
