About me and my therapy practice
I’m Jamie, a Psychotherapist with training in both counselling and psychology, who works with anyone who identifies as LGBT (QIA+), neurodiverse, or works in the sex industry (sex worker or otherwise). I offer a confidential space for us to work on what troubles you, regardless of if it is related to your sexual or gender identity, line of work, personal relationships or discrimination, bereavement or general day-to-day anxiety and stress.
Whilst these are my main areas of focus for my work, I am happy to get enquiries from anyone and can offer a safe space to discuss wider issues outside of these specialities.
I work remotely, meaning that I can work with you where-ever you desire, in a space of your choosing where you can feel comfortable. I am based in the UK, so have a good understanding of the issues that the groups that I work with face in my home country, but I am able to work with anyone in the EU, and in Canada, and I do have an awareness of issues that occur in these areas.
Practice description
I am trained as an integrative counsellor, and trained in masters-level social and cognitive psychology. Despite this, I primarily work within a humanistic, person centred way, using your desires from counselling as an anchor to guide the sessions, with leeway to explore other issues and experiences as they emerge or occur week to week.
I work across the UK in an online capacity, and do have the ability to work with those within the EU, and Canada. (Unfortunately I have no capacity to work with individuals within the USA and Latin America). And I can offer these via Zoom, Teams or Google Video.
For those wanting set goals with a more intense drive, I do offer short-term solution focused therapy over 10 weeks. This offers a more rigid outline of sessions, with a different structure to the standard therapy sessions.
I currently do work for an EAP during the week, but do have capacity out of these hours to offer counselling sessions. Feel free to reach out for discussions around availability.
My first session
First sessions are an exploration of you, getting an idea of what it is you're looking to work on, your wishes from these sessions and an idea of how long you'd like to work for.
Depending on what it is you're looking to work on, be it more free-form or goal oriented, we'll set out a plan and get a starting point of your wellbeing to work from.
Do note, that if you feel this way of work doesn't work for you, I am happy to change it to a more casual, free-style way of working.
