About me and my therapy practice
My work is built around non-judgement and high support, to help you talk things through in as much depth as you feel comfortable with. We’ll go at your pace, giving time and focus to what’s most important to you, and we’ll look out for opportunities to make positive changes.
I work 1-to-1 with individuals, and with two clients as part of a couple or other relationship. Sessions can be online or in-person, depending on what works best for you.
I’m trained and skilled in each of the major therapeutic schools: Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches. I also often draw on attachment theory.
My goal is for us to work together collaboratively, and I'll stay alongside you in whatever you want to address: people often come to therapy for more than one reason, and discover unexpected ways to make use of it once they’ve started.
We'll create a detailed picture of what it's like to be you, the kinds of small decisions you make every day, and how your past and present experiences affect you. We'll be curious, patient and sensitive, helping you get a fresh perspective on the challenges you're facing and start to reframe things so they impact you less and less. This could lead to new insights into past situations and relationships, or to resolving old feelings that you've carried around with you for years.
Relationships/couples
If we’re doing relationships/couples work, we’ll focus on experiences and issues that impact the relationship between you. You may be hoping to strengthen and support your relationship, to make a significant life decision together, or find ways to separate in a way that honours both parties. I’ll take my lead from you, and we’ll work together to help sessions be as helpful as possible.
Practice description
What does this mean for you?
Clients often talk about things changing for the better throughout their time in therapy, including feeling empowered and confident in new ways, having clarity over their identity, or feeling a deeper sense of self-worth. Feelings of depression or anxiety can drastically reduce, tricky emotions like anger or grief can be worked through, and painful past experiences can be processed and healed.
Practically, we'll work together to help you learn how to self-reflect constructively and self-compassionately, growing your sense of connection with your own needs as well as those of the people in your life. These can be hard-won skills, but they'll set you up for taking on future challenges way beyond the point where our work together ends.
