About me and my therapy practice

I offer confidential professional counselling and psychotherapy using an integrative approach. I work mainly long-term, but the number of sessions depends greatly on the nature of the concern and your preference.

My approach to psychotherapy is from an integrative ‘relational-developmental’ stance. Integrative psychotherapy means I work with individuals to enable the experience of life and others in the fullest way possible. Not believing in a one size fits all approach I draw from a blend of different theories to help you work through issues, incorporating psychodynamic, object relations, attachment, gestalt, humanistic and transactional analysis theories.

My primary focus is working with you in a relaxed, relational way. I believe that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is key to the effectiveness of any therapy. I aim to provide a secure, nurturing relationship offering a safe space and the time and opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings, and concerns.

Practice description

My practice offers a calm, confidential space where you can speak openly and be met with genuine understanding. I work with adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain, whether that relates to anxiety, low mood, relationships, self-esteem, or life transitions.

I believe that each person’s experience is unique, so I take a tailored approach to our work together. At the heart of my practice is a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and honesty. I aim to create an environment where you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, without fear of judgement.

Sessions are collaborative, meaning we work together to understand what is happening for you and what you would like to change or develop. This might involve exploring past experiences, recognising patterns, or focusing on present-day challenges and practical ways forward.

I am attentive to how you experience the process of therapy, and I welcome feedback so that our work remains supportive and meaningful for you. Whether you are coming with a specific issue or a more general sense that something doesn’t feel quite right, you are welcome.

Reaching out for support can feel like a significant step. If you are considering therapy, I invite you to get in touch so we can begin to explore what you might need and how I can support you.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and to explore what has brought you to therapy at this time. I understand that starting therapy can feel like a big step, so I aim to make this initial meeting as comfortable and supportive as possible.

During this session, I will invite you to share a little about your current difficulties, any relevant background, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I may ask some gentle questions to help build a clearer picture of your needs, but there is no pressure to share more than you feel ready to.

I will also explain how I work, including confidentiality, boundaries, and what you can expect from ongoing sessions. This is a space for you to ask any questions you may have and to get a sense of whether working together feels right for you.

I do not require a formal written assessment to be completed beforehand, as I prefer to gather information collaboratively within the session. The first session is charged at the same rate as ongoing sessions.

There is no obligation to continue after the initial meeting. You are welcome to take time to reflect on whether you would like to proceed, and I will respect whatever decision feels right for you. My practice is based in Solihull. There is on-street parking and within easy reach of local bus routes and train stations.

Please do get in contact: I would be happy to talk with you about your concerns and to discuss if psychotherapy could be a suitable option for you.

I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation to talk with you about your concerns and to discuss if psychotherapy could be a suitable option for you.
