About me and my therapy practice
Accredited Psychotherapist & Coach | Individuals and Couples
It might feel difficult taking the first steps to find a therapist and then opening up to a stranger you've never met before. Please contact me for a free, no obligation conversation. We can talk and hopefully I can help you take the next steps.
Hello and welcome to my profile. I am Julia, a dually accredited Psychotherapist and Coach, working out of Idmiston, just 5 miles outside of Salisbury.
I work in a thoughtful, relational and collaborative way, tailoring my approach to each individual or couple I meet. At the heart of my work is a strong belief that meaningful change happens when people feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted. I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is happening for you at your own pace.
My core training is person-centred, which means our work is guided by what matters most to you. Alongside this, I integrate CBT, coaching and other evidence-based psychological approaches where they are helpful and appropriate. This allows us to explore not only your emotional experience, but also patterns of thinking, behaviour and relating that may be keeping you stuck.
I offer clients the opportunity to work creatively with resources, such as cards, pens, sand trays and objects, that help them express their feelings. Often we just sit and talk and sometimes it is the silence the offers the biggest moments of realisation and reflection.
I work with adults and couples, supporting a wide range of issues including anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief and challenges around identity and self-worth.
Above all, I see our work as a partnership. We regularly reflect together on how the sessions are working for you, ensuring the therapy remains relevant, purposeful and supportive of your goals.
Practice description
My practice offers a warm, professional and reflective space where you can talk openly about whatever is bringing you to therapy. Sessions are structured yet flexible, balancing emotional depth with practical insight, depending on your needs and preferences. I may offer some psycho-education in our sessions, particularly if you are coming to me because of past trauma.
You can expect me to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and gently question patterns that may no longer serve you. I pay close attention to the therapeutic relationship itself, as this often mirrors important dynamics in your wider life and relationships.
I work ethically and with clear boundaries and I place great importance on trust, confidentiality and psychological safety. Sessions are available online and in person and I work with both short-term, focused work and longer-term, in-depth therapy.
My style is engaged, grounded, and human. Clients often tell me they value my ability to combine warmth with clarity and emotional sensitivity with professional rigour. Whether you are seeking support during a difficult period or looking to deepen self-understanding and growth, I aim to meet you exactly where you are.
Couples
I offer couple therapy, also known as couples counselling. This is a therapeutic process that helps partners in a romantic relationship resolve conflicts, improve communication, and strengthen their bond.
I will facilitate discussion between you both, help you to identify patterns, and work with you both to enhance your emotional connection and solve issues.
Couple work still lasts for 50 minutes per session and is priced at £80. I also offer a longer initial consultation (up to 1 hour) which is priced at £25.
Coaching
I am also an EMCC accredited senior practitioner coach, offering executive, therapeutic and career coaching. If this is more of what you are looking for then please contact me to discuss further details including pricing - please also see my website.
My first session
The first session is a free, no obligation consultation which is an opportunity for us to meet, explore what has brought you to therapy and begin to understand how I might best support you. It is also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and decide whether I am the right fit for you.
During this session, I will invite you to talk about your current concerns, relevant background and what you hope to gain from our work together. I will ask some gentle questions to help build a clearer picture, but there is no pressure to share more than feels comfortable. I will share with you how I work and give you a feel for what a session with me might be like. We will also discuss practicalities such as confidentiality, boundaries and how we might work together going forward.
I do not require formal assessments to be completed in advance, as I prefer to build understanding collaboratively through conversation. At the end of the session, we will discuss next steps, allowing you to make an informed and unpressured decision about continuing, which I invite you to do once you’ve had a chance to reflect after our meeting.
Initial consultations last 30-45 minutes and can be carried out in-person, online or on the telephone.
Couples
I offer a longer initial consultation (up to 1 hour) which is priced at £25.
