About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes we feel overwhelmed, stuck, lost or confused. Counselling can help you make better sense of your thoughts and feelings and find a way through your challenges.
I believe you already have all you need within you to be who and how you want to be. I passionately believe change is possible if you want it to be. You may just need a helping hand to see what's getting in the way. I'd like to help you better understand yourself, so you can develop the self-compassion and strategies you need to thrive.
You may feel unsure how to find the right help. You've come this far so contact me and we can see if it feels right to work together. I'm friendly, open-minded, down to earth and patient, and I'll do my best to put you at ease so you can be yourself.
I work with young people (16+years)and adults, welcoming all cultures, identities and issues. I have a particular passion for nurturing young people in navigating and evolving through the trials and tribulations of life. I'll provide non-judgmental empathy, a supportive nurturing style and even a bit of humour if that helps! Together, we'll work to find your own way.
Practice description
I provide a supportive space and relationship for you to explore what is going on for you. I work integratively which means I combine different skills and techniques depending on your needs. My preferred approaches include Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Somatic Therapy, Attachment theory and coaching.
Most importantly, I will truly listen and aim to understand you without judgment and in complete privacy, so you are free to be yourself. Being able to talk freely can be liberating and enlightening in itself.
I also use a range of practises that can help release and soothe emotions by working somatically with the body. Working creatively with objects or in exercises can also help shed light on patterns of thinking and deep-rooted emotions that impact on your behaviours. Along with psycho-education, my range of practices can help you better understand yourself, develop self-compassion and empower you to find more helpful ways of being.
I offer face to face sessions in my own comfortable counselling room, or online or phone sessions if preferred.
I also offer outdoor sessions where we can 'walk and talk' in an agreed location. Given the chance, I believe that moving and breathing in nature is like food for the soul for many of us.
We can explore what is helpful for you. My aim is to help you develop your own toolkit of coping strategies and practises that nurture your own well-being.
My first session
It's important to see if you're comfortable working with me. I understand that not everyone clicks and you need to find the right therapist for you. I'll aim to put you at ease in a free 30 minute introductory meeting to discuss what support you need, what I can offer you and to answer your queries.
