Play Psychotherapy
Availability changes as clients change but I try to offer sessions outside of school hours.
Sessions run in a 16-week block of regular, weekly sessions. This will be reviewed at 8 weeks where we (the parent, child and I) will potentially agree to finish at 16 weeks or extend the therapy further. I work through the term time and often school holidays to ensure consistency for your child.
About me and my therapy practice
I’m Lucy (she/ her) the founder of Green Sky Counselling and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Play Therapy UK (PTUK). I have been working with children, young people and adults in a range of roles for over twelve years. I have experience in supporting people with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, stress and many other difficulties that may be causing tangled thoughts and feelings. I will not tell you what to do, never judge and find connecting with people and sharing trust is a privilege, helping you feel supported to share whatever is troubling you.
I offer a range of face-to-face confidential therapy sessions to young people 11+ and adults in the Wimborne and wider Dorset areas. I also offer Certified Therapeutic Play sessions to children aged 5 - 13.
Online Counselling for Adults (18+)
I offer online counselling for adults aged 18 and over throughout the UK via Microsoft Teams. Whether you live further away, have a busy schedule or simply prefer to access therapy from your own space, online sessions offer the same warm, confidential and non-judgemental support as meeting face-to-face. We can explore whether online counselling feels right for you during an initial conversation.
I have experience in supporting adults as a counsellor with a variety of presenting issues and changes they wish to make. I have worked with adults on a 1:1 basis and in group equine therapy.
I have over fourteen years of experience working and supporting children and young people aged between 4 -19 years in a variety of roles. This includes working as a counsellor/psychotherapist and children and young people’s safeguarding, alongside other local charity work and agencies to ensure young people can access services available to them.
I hold a deep passion for learning and furthering my professional development in the field of psychotherapy, believing it is never too late to sign up for more studying, training and research.
Practice description
Talking Therapy
I offer face-to-face counselling for adults and young people aged 11+ from my private Garden Room in Wimborne, Dorset. Set in a quiet garden, it is a warm, welcoming and confidential space with its own entrance.
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem or simply feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes you may not know exactly what is troubling you, only that something doesn't feel quite right.
My approach is warm, compassionate and non-judgemental. I offer space to talk openly and explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I won't tell you what to do or make decisions for you. Instead, we can make sense of your experiences together, recognise unhelpful patterns and explore ways forward that feel right for you.
Online Counselling for Adults (18+)
I also offer online counselling for adults aged 18+ across the UK via Microsoft Teams. Whether you live further away, have a busy schedule or prefer being in your own space, online sessions offer flexibility without losing the warmth, connection and support of face-to-face counselling.
Children's Therapeutic Play (5–13 years)
I offer a limited number of therapeutic play sessions for children aged 5–13. Children may find it difficult to express feelings in words, so activities such as art, sand play and imaginative play can help them explore their experiences safely. Sessions are tailored to each child's needs and pace.
Creative Therapy
Creative approaches can help when thoughts and feelings are hard to put into words. I can incorporate art and other expressive activities into talking therapy if you wish. No artistic skill is needed, and creativity is always your choice.
