About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Kate, I am a fully qualified CBT and humanistic integrative counsellor, based in the New Forest. 

My approach is flexible, I am interested in learning about your unique situation and experience, working together at a pace and in a way that is right for you. I enjoy working with people who come to therapy with a wide range of life experiences and situations. 

When we are low or upset, we often fall into patterns of thinking and responding which can worsen how we feel. CBT works to help us notice and change problematic thinking styles or behaviour patterns so we can feel better.

As the work together progresses, we undertake regular reviews to ensure you’re achieving a positive direction from therapy and to reflect on how you are finding the experience. The aim is to help you become clearer about both the extent and the effect of the problem and to help you recognise possible solutions, ones that will work for you.

Practice description

I offer regular (normally weekly) 50-minute sessions, meeting at the same place and at the same time every week. I work together with the client for as long as he or she needs. My fee is £50 per 50-minute session. I offer sessions face-to-face in Sway, and online.

I believe therapy should be available for everyone so I work on a sliding scale. 

My first session

If you are considering working with me, I offer a 20-minute phone or zoom consultation at no cost, to talk over what you are looking for from therapy.

We can explore any questions you have and decide whether working together seems like a good way forward. Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in successful therapy.

It can also be daunting to commence therapy, so this approach can be a helpful first step and can be a good way to find out if we are a good match.
