About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Katie and I am a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I seek to offer a safe, non-judgemental space for clients to be heard and to explore the issues they are facing. The events and circumstances of our lives can often be incredibly challenging.   I am committed to supporting individuals finding some understanding of their past, dealing with their current feelings and emotions, as well as discovering hope for the future.

Practice description

As an integrative Counsellor, I use a variety of different ways of working to meet individual needs including:

Person-centred – working collaboratively with individuals enabling them to make the best decisions for themselves.

Psychodynamic – exploring how buried thoughts, feelings and experiences affect every day life.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – helping people manage problems by changing how they think and behave.

Solution-focused – supporting individuals working towards their own solutions to specific problems.

I can also work with creative tools and materials, and for clients who find it beneficial I am happy to explore spirituality and faith.

I work in a short-term or open-ended way, which means that the number of sessions you have with me can be limited or we can work towards ending of your choice.

As well as working in private practice I also work as a counsellor for a local charity and with children and young people in a local school.

As well as being a qualified therapist, I have previously worked as a primary school teacher having gained a PGCE and a BA (Hons) in Informal Education.  I am also a qualified Youth and Community Worker and a mother of three young adults.

I am fully insured and have an enhanced DBS.

My work is overseen by a fully qualified and register supervisor.

Making contact with me will not commit you to anything. I will initially respond by arranging an initial free 30 minute telephone call.
