My first session

I offer a free telephone or Zoom consultation to potential clients, during which we will discuss the requirements and how I might help and agree a time and place to meet and the fee.

My normal sessions are 50 minutes long but I recommend allowing longer for a first session as there is always a lot to cover. I generally integrate a formal assessment into the first session as well as setting goals and boundaries for our ongoing work together.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I am an experienced, solution-focused counsellor who my clients describe as "exceptionally easy to talk to, highly professional, non-judgmental and caring". I help young and old adults overcome their anxiety, sadness and depression, low self-esteem, grief, anger, trauma, life direction and relationship problems. I see most of my clients online or face-to-face at a private counselling room in north London.

Practice description

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling, for which I studied for 4 years. I also hold a BA(Hons) degree and have many years of experience as a professional communicator.

My training includes all the main Psychodynamic and Person-Centred/Humanistic theories and CBT. This allows me to use exactly whichever theories and approaches seem to be relevant for each individual client and whatever their situation.

The number of sessions also depends upon individual clients. I see some clients weekly, some fortnightly and some on a more ad hoc basis. I build regular reviews into our work to ensure that we are meeting whatever goals we have set.

If you are struggling with something that is outside my experience I would be happy to make a referral for you.

My first session

I suggest that we have an exploratory phone call or zoom meeting before the first session, for which there is no charge.  I also recommend allowing more than an hour for the first session as there is always a lot to cover. I usually include a formal assessment as part of the first session, which helps to set a benchmark for our future work and reviews.
