About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Emily, an MBACP (Accred) person-centred counsellor with five years of NHS experience. I offer online counselling by video or phone for anyone aged 16 and over, so you can join from a space that feels private and comfortable to you.

Many people come to me feeling anxious, stressed or burnt out, or carrying grief, loneliness, low self-esteem or the strain of family and relationship difficulties. Others are in the middle of a big life change and want space to think. Whether something has built up over time or only just happened, there is no right or wrong thing to bring. Whatever has brought you here, you are welcome exactly as you are.

I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace. Counselling isn’t about being ‘fixed’. It’s about being truly seen and heard, so you can understand yourself more deeply and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. Together we can make sense of what you’re feeling and what you need. My sessions are client-led, which means you set the direction. You don’t need to know what to say or have it all worked out before we begin. I’m here to walk alongside you, not lead the way.

I have also worked with young people as an adolescent counsellor, and I know how much pressure can build from GCSEs through to university, often with the expectation of having it all figured out. If you’re 16 to 18, you’re very welcome to get in touch yourself. If you’re a parent wondering where to turn for your child, I’m happy to hear from you too. Whatever your age, the space is yours to use in the way that helps you most.

Reaching out can feel like a big step, and it’s completely okay to take it slowly. If you’re wondering whether we’d be a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. There’s no pressure and no commitment, just a chance to chat, ask any questions and see how it feels. Get in touch whenever you’re ready. I’d be glad to hear from you.

Practice description

I offer 50-minute online sessions by video call (via Google Meet) or by telephone, whichever feels most comfortable for you. Online counselling means you can talk from a space that feels private and familiar, without having to travel anywhere.

Some people prefer to see a face, and others find it easier to talk by phone. There is no right or wrong choice, and we can talk through your preferred time and method when you first get in touch.

Sessions are client-led, so you set the pace and the direction. You don’t need to have it all worked out before we begin. I’ll be here to listen, to understand, and to walk alongside you.

I work with anxiety, stress, burnout, grief and loss, relationships and communication, low self-esteem, loneliness, family conflict and life transitions, and I welcome anyone aged 16 and over.

Reaching out can feel like a big step. You’re very welcome to get in touch with a question, or to book a free introductory call to see how it feels.

My first session

Following your first contact, I offer a free 20-minute call. It’s a chance to introduce ourselves to each other, talk about the support you’re looking for, and ask me anything you’d like to know. There’s no pressure, and nothing you need to prepare.

The call is also a way to see how it feels to talk with me, and to decide together whether I’m the right counsellor for you. Finding someone you feel comfortable with really matters, and it’s completely fine if you decide I’m not the right fit.

After the call, we can talk about how you’d like to move forward. If you’d like to start straight away, we can arrange your first session. If you’d rather take time to think it over, that’s absolutely fine, and you’re welcome to get back in touch whenever you’re ready.

Your first full session is 50 minutes. It’s your space to talk about whatever feels important, at your own pace. I’ll listen, and you set the direction. If you’re joining online, it helps to find somewhere private and comfortable where you won’t be interrupted.
