About me and my therapy practice
Whatever situation you find yourself in – whether you are depressed, suffering from a change of circumstance or loss in your life, anxious or confused, a sense of hopelessness or futility, in the grip of an addiction - I can offer you the opportunity to explore all the strands of your internal narrative. My approach is always to consider and accept the whole of you.
Working with me you will get my full attention. I will listen empathically as you unfold your unique life story. I will strive to better understand the context of your present situation, as together we explore your interior world.
In a safe, non-judgmental way we can explore what it is like to be you. As safety and trust develops, you can experience painful emotions that are often deemed unacceptable in your development or in your outside life. By re-experiencing emotions in the here-and-now, in a safe and supportive environment, you can reappraise past events and inputs, and reintegrate them into your present day life. With increasing awareness of your thought and feeling patterns, change and growth can follow.
As an integrative counsellor I am open to many different theoretical models. These include: Person centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt.
Having experienced the healing effects of counselling myself during difficult times in my life I know the power of therapy to cope with adversity and to restore optimism. It has helped me to disentangle myself from my past and to face the future with an awareness of my present day resources.
I invite you to contact me, so that we can arrange to meet for a preliminary free session to find out if we can go on to work together.
Practice description
In this space we can address any issues you may have around:
As a practical person I will always be checking in with you to find out what you want, what you want to change, and what you want from me to this end. You are in control of your time and your agenda. I am not here to fix or change you. You do this yourself in response to new information and experience, and from your own changed thinking.
By being vulnerable and revealing your true self, and still being accepted, you can experience liberation from the stranglehold of past conditioning, experiences and expectations. A growing awareness of your own power and options, enables you to heal your past and face the future with courage and determination.
My first session
I offer a 30 minute introductory session free of charge. This is to establish whether we would mutually like to work together. This session will enable me to decide whether I have the skills and professional competence to help you to achieve your goals.

About me and my therapy practice
Feeling stressed, misunderstood and unable say how you're feeling.
In a safe, non-judgmental way we can explore what it is like to be you.
Having experienced the healing effects of counselling myself during difficult times in my life, I know the power of therapy to help cope with adversity and to restore optimism. It has helped me to disentangle myself from my past and to face the future with an awareness of my present day resources.
Some client testimonials:
"Over more than two years of working with Charlie, he created a space where I felt completely at ease to speak openly, reflect, and be heard. His ability to combine professional insight with genuine human understanding made it easy to build trust and engage deeply in the process.
With his support, I was able to explore important aspects of myself and make meaningful progress in my personal growth"
TD
Charlie listens and talks with considered empathy. He helps guide you to a more intimate understanding of yourself and the roadblocks that you face.
His care and wisdom have had a profound effect on my outlook and on my life.
TA
My sessions with Charlie were some of my more groundbreaking therapy. He was very human whilst also holding the role of therapist, which allowed me to be aware of the therapeutic process whilst taking part in it. He kept the sessions focused on my goals, shared with me his notes and reflections to keep us on track, and challenged me meaningfully from the outset. We covered psycho-education and had some optional experimental sessions which gave me the chance to get out of my comfort zone. I felt very understood, but more importantly, I felt safe to say and explore it when I didn’t. He helped me see the significance of what was happening between us and in the room at a helpful pace, stopping me from rushing ahead or becoming disinterested.

I invite you to contact me.
