About me and my therapy practice

As a Person-Centred and Existential counsellor, my work is grounded in the belief that our difficulties are better understood within the wider context of our lives. I’m interested not only in what brings you to therapy, but also in your experiences, relationships, values and the way you make sense of the world.

The therapeutic relationship is central to the work I do. I aim to meet you in your world, with curiosity and respect for your individual way of being, your experiences and what matters to you. Together, we will explore the difficulties you are facing, at a pace that feels right for you, while remaining open to what may emerge through the process.

I work with a wide range of concerns, including relationship difficulties, work-related stress, lifestyle challenges and illness, as well as anxiety, panic attacks, depression, low self-esteem, loss of purpose and suicidal thoughts. Sometimes difficulties develop gradually; at other times, a sudden or overwhelming experience can leave us feeling stuck or uncertain.

My approach is not about fitting you into a particular model or telling you how you should move forward. I’m interested in what works for you and what you need from the process. Through our work together, we may develop new perspectives, make sense of difficult experiences, and reconnect with strengths, choices and possibilities that may have become difficult to see.

Practice description

I guide my practice by the core Values and Principles outlined in the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This ensures that our work together is grounded in respect, integrity and professionalism.

I offer individual and group sessions, primarily face-to-face, as well as online sessions. Both long-term and time-limited consultations are available to suit your needs. I also provide Single Session Therapy, an evidence-based approach designed to address a specific concern within a focused, purposeful session.

My first session

In our first session, I will take the time to listen and understand what brings you to counselling. I aim to ‘step into your shoes’ and appreciate what you are experiencing from your perspective and within the context of your current life.

The first session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, clarify any concerns and discuss what you would like from counselling. We can explore how we might work together and what approach feels right for you.

I will adapt to your preferred style and needs, and we can remain flexible as the work develops. There are no obligations or expectations about what you should share or where therapy needs to lead. The direction remains yours.
