About me and my therapy practice

Welcome! This is an opportunity for time and space just for you. To be, however you are. To feel and stabilise. To reflect, reconnect, and process. And you will not be alone in any of this, I will be with you. Who am I? I’m Sophie. I am a fully qualified and professionally trained Person Centred counsellor. I have over a decade of experience in supporting adults aged 18 plus, from a great number of backgrounds, and with a wide variety of difficulties, and experiences of distress. I have also worked with Norfolk and Waveney Mind and Alumah as a Counsellor. I will be alongside you with whatever your experience is. Sensing. Supporting. Sharing. Connecting. I will hold our space, safely, securely and confidentially. This is time to be truly seen, heard, and accepted for all that you are. Our therapeutic relationship will be founded on openness and honesty. I see all behaviours, feelings and experiences as universally human, that are functions not symptoms. I believe the dominance of medicalisation in mental health can sometimes cause more harm than good in empowering individuals. Medication can often be necessary, and extremely helpful, but it is not the only option and never should you feel that there is something wrong with you due to distress.

Together we will navigate through whatever has brought you to counselling, help resolve, heal and lay to rest. My hope is you will find ways to move forward and feel better about yourself.

If you would like to talk about this more, and possible ongoing counselling then please do not hesitate to contact me. I would love to hear from you. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you move forward and progress in life with happiness and peace.

Practice description

I deliver counselling in person or online. Face to face sessions are held in a comfortable and calming space in central Norwich.

Sessions are 1 hour in length and usually we will meet weekly. Together we will review regularly how the counselling is progressing. Consistency and commitment from yourself is important for us to build a therapeutic relationship and for you to achieve your goals.

If you are on a low income and/or benefits please contact me so we can discuss a concessionary rate that is affordable for you.

My first session

You will need chance to decide if we are the right fit for counselling together. That is why I welcome contact from you so we can arrange a short chat via telephone, to discuss your goals from counselling. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have. Alternatively we can communicate via email if that is preferable for you. Once we have both agreed to start sessions we can book this in. During our first session I will familiarise you with the building and our room. We will also go through a counselling contract.
