About me and my therapy practice
Everyone calls me Nat for short, so feel free to do the same.
I imagine you're here because you feel lost, overwhelmed, stuck, or all of the above. I know from experience just how exhausting that can be. I also know the value of having someone to share the load with when your thoughts start to spiral, and that's where counselling can help.
Experience:
Over the years, I've found that I work well with people who need time to let their guard down, and prefer a gentle pace, especially those who have experienced abuse, neglect, or harm in relationships, and may feel unsafe with others, unable to switch off, or disconnected from themselves.
I'm also passionate about working with queer identity and neurodiversity, as well as anyone who feels like they're living in a system that wasn't built for them. Although I can't change the world, I can offer you a place where you can drop the masks, talk without a filter, and not have to justify yourself.
I'm keen that you find the right counsellor for you, and sometimes that's more about personality than experience. I always work hard to understand and educate myself on different perspectives/life experiences, so welcome you reaching out even if your struggles aren't listed.
Qualifications:
- MSc Counselling & Psychotherapy (Distinction) - Keele Uni
- Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling - Keele Uni
- BA (Hons) Business Management (MMU)
I've also completed specific training in Trauma Therapy, Abuse, C-PTSD, Neuroaffirming Therapy, and Relationship Counselling.
Practice description
In sessions, we'll talk things through at your pace, and see if we can help you feel more at ease. This might involve exploring emotions or memories that feel heavy or consuming, understanding yourself or your situation more clearly, finding a different perspective, gently challenging patterns created by painful life events and old coping mechanisms, or simply having the space to vent, cry, laugh, or swear!
More than anything, I believe that good therapy is built on trust, rapport, and human connection. I value being straightforward, and focus on providing a steady and supportive space above all else. If you choose to have counselling with me, I hope you'll find me to be calm, friendly, and highly open-minded.
You're always in control of what we talk about. I'll sometimes ask questions, offer observations, or share my knowledge, but won't patronise you or pressure you into anything that doesn't feel right.
