About me and my therapy practice
Thinking about therapy but not sure it's for you? That's completely normal — and it's exactly where most of the men I work with started.
Maybe things have been building for a while. Stress, low mood, anxiety, relationship difficulties, or just a nagging sense that something isn't right. You might have tried pushing through, keeping busy, or not talking about it. But here you are, and that takes something.
I offer a straightforward, no-pressure space where you can talk — or just start to figure out what you want to say. I won't tell you what to do or how to feel. My job is to listen properly, without judgement, and help you work through things at your own pace.
If sitting in a room doesn't feel right straight away, I also offer walk and talk therapy — sessions outdoors, side by side. Many men find it easier to open up when they're moving rather than sitting face to face. It's still proper therapy, just in a different setting.
I work with men on anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, loss, self-esteem, work pressures, and questions around identity and sexuality.
Sessions are available in person in Basingstoke, Alton and Odiham, or outdoors locally. Flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Practice description
Getting in touch can feel like the hardest part. I want to make it as easy as possible.
I offer a free 15-minute call before we start — no commitment, no pressure. It's just a chance to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and decide if it feels right. Most people find that first conversation easier than they expected.
If you decide to go ahead, sessions are 50 minutes and we work at your pace. There's no set agenda — you bring what's on your mind. Some people know exactly what they want to talk about. Others aren't sure yet, and that's fine too.
I work in a person-centred way, which means I follow your lead. I won't give advice or tell you what to do. Instead I'll listen carefully, help you make sense of what you're experiencing, and support you to find your own way through.
Sessions are available face to face in Basingstoke, Alton and Odiham. I also offer walk and talk sessions outdoors — a good option if you'd find it easier to talk while moving rather than sitting across from someone.
I work Wednesday afternoons, most evenings and weekends, so there's usually something that fits around work or other commitments.
If you're on a tighter budget, I offer concessionary rates — just mention it when you get in touch.
Feel free to call or visit my website to find out more before making contact.
My first session
Before your first session, I offer a free 15-minute phone call. This isn't therapy — it's just a chance to have a brief chat, ask any questions you have, and get a sense of whether working together feels right. There's no obligation to book after that call.
If you decide to go ahead, the first session is a chance to talk about what's brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to get from it. I won't put you on the spot or run through a formal assessment. We'll just talk, and I'll listen.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you come. You don't need to know what's wrong, or be able to explain it clearly. Many people arrive not quite knowing where to start — and that's a completely fine place to begin.
The first session is the same rate as subsequent sessions. There are no hidden costs.
By the end of it, you'll have a better feel for how I work and whether it's the right fit. If it is, we can agree how often to meet and take it from there. If it isn't, that's okay too — finding the right therapist matters more than booking another session.
