About me and my therapy practice

You might be feeling stressed out, overwhelmed, confused and facing challenges that are uncomfortable and distressing for you.

It's not always easy or possible to speak about what's going on with friends, family, partners or colleagues for fear of being judged or misunderstood. This can leave you feeling unseen, unheard, worried and alone.

Person-centred counselling provides a supportive, inclusive and affirmative relationship to share about what's really going on. No judgements here. Just warmth, understanding and practical support with the next steps.

Together we can look at a range of issues such as:

🫂 Challenging relationships with partners, friends or family

🏳️‍🌈 LGBTQ+ identities

♾️ Neurodivergence - inc. ADHD & Autism

😟 Anxiety

🫥 Depression/low mood

🆘 Historical traumatic events

📵 Addictions/compulsive behaviours including pornography

🪫 Burnout and fatigue

👪 Family challenges

🕊️ Bereavement/loss

About me and my therapy practice

Tom Cowan (He/Him)

BA (Hons) Person-Centred Counselling, MBACP (Accred)

Trainee Clinical Supervisor

I am excited to be able to offer you up to 6 sessions of fortnightly/four weekly online supervision as part of my Diploma in Supervision training at Connexus Institute.

I see supervision as collaborative, with the aim of trying to understand what is alive within the counselling relationship and within the therapist.

This moves away from binary or polarised thinking about whether things are done rightly or wrongly and towards noticing how the counsellor is being.

Using the six conditions as an assessment tool we can explore how the therapist’s way of being contributes to the development of the therapeutic relationship.

I have lived experience of growing up gay/queer and worked with Brighton mental health charity MindOut to offer LGBTQ+ inclusive, neuro-affirming,trauma-informed counselling.

In my free time I enjoy playing around in improv classes, walking in Sussex and creating new things in surprising ways.

If you’re curious about experiencing a person-centred supervision relationship you can book a free 20 minute introductory call
