About me and my therapy practice
I’m an Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I came to counselling and psychotherapy through an interest in philosophy initially, and how the intersections between philosophy, psychology and sociology might help develop our understandings of ourselves, others and the world around us. Before training as a therapist I worked in music and hospitality and have an ongoing interest in the emotional and psychological value of creative expression.
My practice is a dedicated and attentive space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, memories, dreams, and perspectives in an atmosphere of curiosity and compassion. We work collaboratively through dialogue towards a deepening of self-knowledge and understanding. This often comes in the form of identifying recurring patterns and themes, connecting the dots between the past and the present, working with dreams, and attending to how you’re relating to yourself and others. The therapeutic relationship can also be a place to reflect and examine in real time how you’re experiencing being in relationship, which can foster insight into how attachments and relationships are experienced outside of the therapy room.
It can require a real courage to trust another person with the details of our inner lives and experiences; I take this seriously and aim always to be a warm, genuine, and collaborative presence.
Practice description
I’m an integrative counsellor/psychotherapist, meaning that my practice is an integration of aspects of different theories and approaches, most notably person centred approaches, existential thinking and some aspects of psychodynamic approaches.
In practice this means that I would begin by listening attentively and trying to understand your experience as best I can. I would offer my responses and reflections along the way, not as advice or opinion as such, but as something for us to wonder about together. I would be interested to hear about some of your past experiences, memories and relationships with regard to how they might be informing the present. I would also be interested in working with dreams if that were something you would be interested in.

The first session is a chance for us to meet and to see if we think we'd be a good fit for working together.
