About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, or like you’ve lost your way. You may be looking for support in your journey recovering from abuse, or you’re currently struggling with a relationship in your life.
I strongly believe that within the safety of a trusting counselling relationship, we can find clarity and a way to move forward, towards healing and growth. I am here to support you in looking for the answers within, as only you know what’s right for you.
I’m a warm, caring humanistic therapist working online. I am registered with the BACP and work with adults and young people on issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship problems, family issues and abuse. I also work with clients affected by chronic health conditions, such as ME / chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, migraine and vestibular conditions / persistent dizziness.
I welcome people of all ages (16+) and identities. I am LGBT+ affirmative.
I work online using Zoom but can also offer telephone sessions.
Session fee is 50£ (duration 50 minutes). Concessions (45£) available for those on low incomes and student counsellors.
Practice description
What to expect:
My approach is rooted in person-centred and humanistic counselling. As a therapist, I work with what you bring to the sessions, and you decide what you want to talk about. You are the expert on yourself and your life. I won’t give you advice, but I will bring an empathic, engaged and authentic presence to our interactions.
We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you and regularly review our work together. I welcome feedback and my aim as a counsellor is to be open and approachable.
I also work relationally: when it feels useful, I work with what happens in the here-and-now of the counselling relationship. This can be a powerful way to further explore the issues that you bring to counselling.
I speak English, French and Dutch and can offer therapy in any of these languages.
Qualifications:
• Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from York St John University - Distinction
• AQA Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
Continuing Professional Development:
• An Introduction to Trauma-Informed Care
• Understanding Domestic Abuse and Trauma Bonds
• Working with Dissociative Disorders in Clinical Practice
• Dealing with Distress: Working with Suicide and Self-Harm
• Overcoming Barriers to LGBTQ+ Affirming Behavioral Health Services
Experience:
Alongside my private practice, I volunteer with York Women’s Counselling.
My previous experience includes counselling at 1-2-1 Counselling York and York College. Before training as a counsellor, I volunteered with the Samaritans. In a previous life, I taught languages and literature at university.
