About me and my therapy practice

I’m Courtney, an integrative Psychotherapist with almost 15 years’ experience in mental health, I have delivered thousands of hours of therapy supporting adults struggling with anxiety, trauma, attachment wounds, relationship difficulties and low self-worth.

I work with people who are feeling overwhelmed by modern day life, often turning to self sabotaging behaviours as a way of coping. You may look like you're coping on the outside while privately feeling emotionally exhausted, anxious or disconnected from yourself. Life can be challenging, things do not always work out the way we may have planned with everyday issues and stresses easily becoming unmanageable. We all need support at some point in our lives to overcome problems, counselling can provide you with clarity and guidance as together we can explore whatever may be troubling you.

Practice description

Although I am from a person centred background I would describe my work as following an integrative approach recognising the paradox of clients wanting some form of guidance and direction. This style allows me to adapt in accordance with your needs. There is no one size fits all to therapy, I see each person as unique and aim to be fluid and responsive to that by combing techniques to benefit you. Sometimes that looks like practical tools and psycho education, and other times it may include deeper more reflective work. I am a spiritual person and this is also reflective in my practice.

I have a particular interest in inner child healing and attachment theory. Inner child work can be deeply restorative, helping us to meet wounded parts of ourselves with compassion, releasing feelings of shame and guilt, and rediscovering joy. Exploring your attachment styles can bring insight into how you relate to others and offers new ways of feeling more secure in relationships and within ourselves.

Together we explore not only the conflicts happening on the surface, but also the deeper emotional needs, attachment patterns and vulnerabilities that may be sitting underneath them.
