About me and my therapy practice

My work is grounded in the person-centred approach, which means I aim to offer a warm, respectful and non-judgemental relationship where you can explore your experiences safely. I work from the belief that you are the expert in your own life, and that my role is to support rather than direct the process.

Sessions are led by you and move at a pace that feels manageable. Some people prefer to talk; others find it helpful to use reflection, journalling prompts or gentle creative approaches. I work flexibly to meet you in a way that feels accessible and meaningful, while remaining rooted in person-centred values.

I pay close attention to the therapeutic relationship, as I believe this is central to change. I aim to be open, honest and empathic, creating a space where difficult thoughts, emotions and uncertainties can be explored without pressure to fix or rush.

I work ethically and transparently, with clear boundaries and respect for autonomy, consent and confidentiality. I am mindful of how wider experiences such as identity, learning differences, neurodivergence, work pressures and organisational systems can affect emotional wellbeing, and I hold these in mind where they are relevant to you.

I primarily work with adults, and also work with young people aged 13 and over where they are able to engage with and advocate for their own needs within the counselling process. My aim is to support you in developing greater self-understanding, self-trust and clarity, in a way that feels supportive and empowering.

Practice description

I am a person-centred counsellor offering a warm, collaborative space where you can explore whatever feels important to you, at your own pace. At the heart of my practice is the belief that you are the expert in your own life, and that change happens through a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship.

A tutor once described person-centred counselling in a way that has stayed with me: the client holds the map, and I hold the torch. My role is not to direct or advise, but to walk alongside you, helping to bring light to areas that may feel unclear or difficult.

While person-centred theory guides my work, I recognise that everyone is unique. Sessions may involve talking, reflection, gentle creative approaches or journalling prompts, depending on what feels most accessible and supportive for you. I work flexibly and relationally, ensuring the person-centred approach is used in a way that fits the individual rather than a fixed method.

I have many years’ experience working with adults and young people in pastoral and therapeutic settings. My preference is to work with adults; however, I also work with young people aged 13 and over, where they are able to engage with and advocate for their own needs within the counselling process, in line with ethical guidance around consent and autonomy.

Alongside my counselling training, I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Disabled Learners and am nearing completion of a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management. I bring particular understanding of learning differences, neurodivergence, identity, work-related stress and organisational challenges.

I offer a non-judgemental, ethical and affirming space, working at a pace led by the client, with respect for autonomy, boundaries and individual experience.

My first session

I offer a free 10-minute introductory call, which provides an opportunity for you to ask any initial questions and get a sense of whether working together might feel right. This call is not a counselling session and does not involve assessment or therapy.

The first full session is a gentle, exploratory space where we can begin to look at what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from the process. There is no expectation to share anything you are not ready to discuss, and we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

During this session, I will also explain how I work, including confidentiality, boundaries and practical arrangements, and there will be time for you to ask any questions. This helps ensure you can make an informed decision about continuing with counselling.

I do not use formal clinical assessments. Instead, I focus on understanding you as a person and what support may be most helpful at this time. Any forms are limited to essential administrative and consent information.

The first session is offered at a reduced rate of £30 and takes place via Zoom only. There is no pressure to commit to ongoing sessions; the choice to continue is entirely yours.

My aim is to offer a calm, respectful and supportive introduction to counselling, allowing you to decide whether this feels like the right space for you
