About me and my therapy practice

Trauma Therapy in Taunton & Online Across the UK

My name is Samantha, welcome to my counselling and trauma therapy practice, Ember Sky Therapy. I am a BACP Registered counsellor specialising in trauma therapy, offering both in-person sessions in Taunton and online therapy to clients across the UK. I work particularly with people who have experienced:

  • Childhood trauma, child abuse or emotional neglect
  • Abuse (including domestic, sexual or attachment trauma)
  • Long-term stress or nervous system overwhelm
  • PTSD and complex PTSD

You don’t need to have a clear understanding of your experiences to begin, many people come feeling confused, disconnected, or unsure of where to start and that’s ok.

Healing from Childhood Trauma and Abuse

I am deeply committed to supporting healing and recovery for survivors of childhood trauma and child abuse. Growing up in an environment where we did not feel safe, where those who should love and protect us, let us down, means that often we never establish feelings of safety or connection.

If you went through something like this then, you might be experiencing;

  • Anxiety or panic attacks
  • Feeling constantly on edge or hypervigilant
  • Flashbacks or intrusive memories
  • A sense of emptiness, shame, or low self-worth
  • Depression or feelings of hopelessness
  • Self-harm or thoughts of suicide

In trauma therapy, we begin by building safety and stability, helping you to feel more grounded and supported before exploring deeper experiences.

Over the years, I have helped clients facing a range of difficulties, from anxiety, PTSD and C-PTSD, work-related stress and victims of crime, rape and abuse. My focus is on helping you understand yourself, build resilience, and rediscover the spark that brings meaning to your life.

If you’d like to explore how we might work together, please reach out by phone or email and we can discuss your needs, address any questions, and ensure that you feel comfortable and supported throughout this journey.

Practice description

As an integrative trauma therapist, I bring a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to our work together, tailoring therapeutic styles and techniques to meet your individual needs. My priority is to offer a safe, welcoming, and confidential space where you can share your story without fear of judgment and feel truly heard and supported.

Therapy is not just about addressing pain, it is also about reclaiming a sense of hope, exploring new possibilities, and working towards a life that feels more fulfilling and aligned with who you are.

Having worked with Mind in Taunton, where I have supported individuals living with anxiety, depression, OCD and personality-related difficulties, including EUPD/BPD and PTSD. I have also completed additional training and a Masters degree in supporting individuals in navigating complex trauma, including;

  • Domestic abuse and violence
  • Historic child abuse
  • Sexual violence and assault
  • Crime and victimisation

Together, we will gently explore your experiences, emotions, and thoughts, finding approaches that resonate with you and provide a foundation for trauma healing. We will discover the tools that empower you to navigate challenges and foster meaningful change in your life.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their ethical framework, ensuring that our work together takes place in a safe, confidential, and respectful space

I work from private therapy rooms in Taunton, Somerset offering in-person sessions. Close to the town centre with parking nearby and easy access from Taunton and the surrounding areas. I also provide online trauma therapy, via video call, across the UK.

My first session

If you would like to know more about my work or about how counselling can help you, then we can arrange a free 20-minute telephone consultation before our first session, allowing us to determine if we are a good fit and explore how we can work together to build a path forward. I am also happy to build this initial relationship by email, for those who may be more comfortable this way, before booking our first session.
