About me and my therapy practice

I’m Caroline, a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Therapist. I work in an integrative way while remaining firmly rooted in person-centred values.

Our starting point is our relationship, two people meeting and exploring together what you’re bringing. Rather than diagnosing, analysing or fixing you, I’ll offer empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence. When you are met with these conditions, at your own pace, you can begin to hear your own voice again. You begin to remember who you are underneath all the roles and expectations and pain.

Depending on where you want to go, we might deepen the work to process and integrate past experiences, we might look forward at changes you’d like to make and we’ll always keep an eye on how it feels right now, for you.

I offer a brief initial video chat or phone call at no cost and we can discuss whether to make an appointment. If we agree that counselling with me is not the best option for you, I will do my best to direct you to alternative sources of help, and to recommend another counsellor if you wish.

Working with Children and Young People

As with adults, I bring my person-centred roots into my work with children and young people along with ideas from other therapeutic models. Our work might be playing games together, using the space for creativity or for talking things through – all of these can be therapeutically helpful – offering a child or young person time and space to make their own choices in a safe, calm, warm, welcoming place.

My work with children and young people can cover grief and loss, family changes, identity - it's a space to get to know and express feelings, thoughts, and make sense of behaviours.

I worked for over 9 years in a primary school as a support worker. I was a counsellor for teenagers in Bradford for 2 years, and I now work as a counsellor with 5 – 17 year olds in a charity in Greater Manchester.

My room has space for creativity and play, as well as a comfortable sofa for talking.

Practice description

Finding the right counsellor for you

To find out if we could work well together, I offer a brief initial video chat or phone call at no cost and we can discuss whether to make an appointment. If we agree that counselling with me is not the best option for you, I will do my best to direct you to alternative sources of help, and to recommend another counsellor if you wish.

What will change in counselling?

Since every counselling journey is unique, we can’t know for sure what will happen for you, but we can certainly think about what may happen. For example, you may start to feel more compassion towards yourself. You may realise that the past’s hold on you has loosened and past experiences no longer define you. You may find yourself accepting some parts of you despite not liking them, and changing others. You may notice a shift in your relationships with the people around you. You may become more attuned to your own thoughts and feelings and to others’, discover new meanings, find new goals. You may have a clearer idea of what’s important to you, and make changes to create a life that serves you better.

At the end of the day, I believe that with the right support, we all have the ability to grow, heal and move forward. Therapy isn’t about fixing you — it’s about giving you the space and support to understand yourself better, so you can find your own way through.
