About Me
Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck or unsure how to move forward can be incredibly difficult — especially when you’re carrying these feelings on your own. Counselling offers a safe, confidential space to explore what’s going on for you and begin to find clarity, understanding and relief.
I am Deborah Terry, a BACP-registered counsellor based in Sevenoaks, working with adults, children and young people. I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental approach, helping clients feel heard, understood and accepted just as they are. I am experienced in working with neurodivergent clients and offer an affirming, inclusive space that respects individual differences in thinking, communication and emotional expression.
I believe that feeling genuinely listened to and supported can be deeply empowering. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you, helping you reconnect with yourself, build self-confidence, and find your own answers.
Practice description
How I Work
My approach is humanistic and integrative, drawing on different therapeutic models to suit you as an individual. I tailor therapy to your needs, recognising that everyone’s experiences and challenges are unique.
I create a safe, trusting space where you can talk openly and honestly. Therapy can help you explore past experiences, understand patterns in relationships or behaviour, process emotions, and develop self-awareness and resilience.
For neurodivergent clients, I adapt sessions to support different sensory, communication and processing needs. This may include a gentler pace, offering structure, and creating a predictable, safe environment. Therapy is always collaborative and guided by what works best for you.
Issues I Can Help With
I work with a wide range of concerns, including:
- Anxiety and panic
- Depression and low mood
- Stress, overwhelm and burnout
- Low self-esteem and confidence
- Relationship and communication difficulties
- Emotional regulation and anger
- Trauma and difficult life experiences
- Bereavement and loss
- Feeling stuck, misunderstood or out of place
I also support neurodivergent adults, children and young people, including those with ADHD, autism, or exploring their neurodivergent identity.
Working With Children and Young People
I offer counselling to children and young people in a supportive, age-appropriate way, helping them express feelings they may find difficult to put into words.
I have extensive experience working with children and young people, supported by a Level 5 qualification. My degree research explored the experiences of therapists working with adolescents in school settings, and this continues to inform my work in both schools and private practice.
My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for you to talk about what’s brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it. We’ll discuss how I work, answer any questions you may have, and see whether we feel like a good fit.
Counselling can be short-term or longer-term, depending on your needs and goals.
Practical Information
I offer:
Face-to-face sessions in Sevenoaks
Online sessions via Zoom
