Availability
My availability currently includes weekly daytime and evening slots.
Typically, after an initial session, we will reserve the same day and time for each other for subsequent sessions.
In specific circumstances, such as changing shift patterns requiring different days each week, sessions times can be arranged on a weekly basis.
I am able to offer weekend sessions, but I will not be able to guarantee weekly availability, and so these will be arranged ad-hoc, and are mostly reserved for initial assessments and post-therapy appointments.
About me and my therapy practice
My way of working integrates a client-led, psychotherapeutic and psychoeducational approach.
This means we work collaboratively, with a strong emphasis on your autonomy and empowerment.
We will be able to explore relational influences, uncover patterns, and share an understanding of your world with psychological insight.
I have particular experience in working with families: navigating neurodivergence, anxiety, and relational conflict between child and adult, past and present. I work to support parents in understanding their child's internal world, strengthening communication and connection, and to aid understanding of how our experiences shape us and those around us.
I also use creative and somatic approaches (the connection between mind and body) where appropriate and offer yoga-based therapy.
Practice description
There is no pressure to share everything or talk non-stop - we always go at a pace which feels safe for you. Additionally, we can use creative or play-based approaches, when verbal expression feels difficult.
My focus is on creating a safe and supportive environment. I am trauma-responsive, meaning I am mindful of how past experiences can affect the mind and body in the present, and so we work at your own pace, in a way that fosters safety and agency at all times.
My first session
Our first session is an opportunity for us to meet and get a sense of how we will work together.
Starting therapy can be a big, difficult step, so this is a relaxed session, where I will simply aim to get to know you a little and you can ask any questions you may have about how I work.
I may ask some gentle questions, to start to gain an understanding of what may have brought you here, which forms part of an initial assessment that informs how we may work together.
After the session, I invite you to reflect on how it felt, before kindly contacting me to let me know if you would like to continue.
