About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor specialising in trauma treatment, with a strong interest in helping people recover from difficult experiences and create lasting change.
I believe therapy should be both compassionate and purposeful. Understanding someone’s pain matters, but so does helping them find ways to live differently.
Some experiences are clearly remembered; others continue to affect us through physical sensations, emotions or behaviours we cannot easily explain. You do not need to remember everything or find the right words to begin therapy.
I adapt my approach to each person’s needs. Talking therapy can help us explore experiences and patterns, while EMDR can help process distressing memories. Sensorimotor and creative approaches offer ways to work with bodily responses and experiences that are difficult to express in words.
Together, we explore what may be maintaining your difficulties, develop emotional regulation and practise new ways of responding in everyday life. We regularly review our work and adjust our approach as needed.
Originally from South Korea, I have spent the past ten years living and training in the UK, gaining personal and professional insight into cultural differences, identity and adjustment. I offer counselling in English and Korean.
You may not be able to change what happened, but the way it continues to affect your life can change.
Practice description
I offer private counselling primarily for adults, as well as children and young people experiencing trauma, anxiety, emotional difficulties, relationship concerns and challenging life experiences.
Sessions are available online or in person, in a calm, welcoming environment where you can explore your concerns without pressure or judgement.
<A special note for parents>
I have deliberately chosen to continue working as a school counsellor because children and young people need timely, accessible emotional support, particularly those waiting for CAMHS or reluctant to attend therapy.
Young people need adults who can not only listen with understanding but also help them make sense of difficult experiences and trauma-related reactions in their minds and bodies. This can reduce fear and confusion and support healthy emotional development.
If your child is struggling, please get in touch, even if they are not ready for counselling. We can begin with parent consultations, exploring practical ways to understand and support your child.
Sometimes helping a young person begins with supporting the adults around them.
My first session
I offer an initial session at a reduced rate of £50, giving us a relaxed opportunity to get to know each other and explore how therapy might help.
We may discuss your current concerns, relevant experiences from your past and what you hope to change. You are also welcome to ask questions about my approach and what to expect.
There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with.
Sessions are available online or in my counselling room, where we can talk over a warm cup of tea.
Parents seeking support for their child are welcome to attend the first consultation on their own.
Together, we can decide on a helpful way forward.
