About me and my therapy practice
I’m Aoife, a BACP registered therapist based in Manchester.
I offer a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental therapeutic space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences safely and openly. My aim is to support you in developing greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships.
I work collaboratively and at your pace, offering a calm and compassionate environment where you can explore whatever feels important to you. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or feeling overwhelmed by life, therapy can help you gain clarity, self-awareness, and a stronger sense of emotional balance.
Clients may seek therapy for many reasons, including anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, life transitions, or a general sense of feeling overwhelmed or disconnected. Therapy can provide the space to reflect, process difficult experiences, and work towards meaningful and lasting change.
Practice description
My approach is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and respect for your individual experience. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is central to effective therapy and can provide the foundation for meaningful and lasting change.
Together, we may explore patterns in thoughts, behaviours, and relationships that may no longer be serving you. Often, these patterns develop through earlier life experiences and can continue to influence current relationships and emotional responses. Developing awareness of these patterns can support healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.
I provide a tailored and collaborative approach, adapting sessions to your individual needs and goals. Where appropriate, we may also incorporate supportive strategies outside of sessions, such as mindfulness practices, grounding techniques, or reflective journaling, to enhance emotional wellbeing and self-awareness between appointments.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain from counselling, and whether we feel like the right fit to work together.
There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with, and we will work at a pace that feels right for you. We will also complete some initial paperwork relating to confidentiality and contact details.
