About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Carol. Welcome to my profile. Are you someone who has experienced challenges in your life? Are you feeling "stuck" or "lost"? This might be making you feel anxious, afraid and coping with daily life. I am here, to provide you with a safe space to gain insight, self-awareness, clarity, confidence and positive growth towards greater fulfilment. I have specialist experience in helping people impacted by experiencing domestic, family or childhood abuse. Whatever the issue, we can explore together in counselling. You do not need to feel alone

In my early nursing career, I worked with people who experienced physical, emotional and mental health issues, enabling me to develop a passion to support people

In achieving a BSc (Hons) Psychology, I support people who have courageously reached out for help. I have worked with people facing emotional difficulties, resulting from being diagnosed with rare genetic disorders. I have worked with others affected by childhood sexual exploitation and sexual abuse. I have provided emotional and psychological support to young people and adults within hospitals, prisons and schools. I have worked with the LGBT and transgender community. I have offered specialist domestic abuse, trauma recovery and counselling services.

I work with diverse backgrounds with a range of challenges, including, but not limited to anxiety, domestic abuse, trauma, addiction, bereavement, physical health, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, work-related stress, frustration, historical sexual abuse, shame, and depression.

My work as a therapist follows the Psychodynamic approach. I aim to help you to understand how your current feelings, thoughts and behaviours are shaped by past experiences. Within our trusting relationship, I will encourage you to talk freely about whatever comes to your mind. You can talk openly, honestly and without being judged. The patterns of what lies in your unconscious mind begins to emerge and we will then explore this together.

Practice description

I am pleased to be able to offer in person therapy from my East Kilbride, Glasgow therapy room and also online counselling. If you choose to use the online service, you will be offered a 50 minute session each week. This service has proved to be more accessible to many clients.

You will be offered a 20 minute free online consultation, prior to engaging with support. This is provided to enable you to ask any questions you may have regarding counselling and it will allow us to get to know one another before our first session together.

As a psychodynamic therapist, I understand the importance of establishing a confidential therapeutic relationship within a safe environment that offers acceptance and empathy. The aim is to enable you to experience a safe base to unravel any unresolved conflict and “join the dots” in order to achieve your goals. The aim is that you will become empowered to develop confidence to bring about long lasting, positive change.

I am a Member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Our first session together will be our initial consultation session and will usually enable us to focus on the presenting issues that has led you to request counselling services.
