About me and my therapy practice
You may be feeling stuck or overwhelmed by specific experiences or circumstances, or you may be unsure why you don’t feel anxious, depressed or tense. The relationships we have with others, or the relationships we lack or are estranged from, can be confusing, frustrating and deeply hurtful. Our environment, and how we are seen by other people, can leave us feeling pressurised, dismissed or misunderstood. Together, we can work to explore and understand your experience, allowing you to process some of the painful feelings, and potential trauma, which have left you feeling distressed.
Working sensitively at a pace that suits you, we can explore how you are feeling without judgment. Acknowledging your social reality, we can also be curious about unconscious beliefs which have created patterns of thought that no longer serve you, and we can work together to release those patterns, freeing you to move forward. Evidence demonstrates that engaging with another person in a relational style of therapy allows the potential for deep change, rather than managing symptoms.
I am an experienced psychotherapist with particular interest in working with childhood trauma, family (including sibling) issues, estrangement, abuse, disability and chronic health conditions. I have ample experience of working with anxiety, depression, trauma, loss and relationship difficulties.
My core training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy, although I draw on a humanistic therapeutic foundation to combine the rigour of psychoanalytic understanding with a warm, empathic approach which meets you where you currently are. Alongside my private practice, I was a senior Counsellor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and over the past 5 years there worked with medics and health scientists, many of whom are international. I have also taught counselling skills at the Minster Centre for psychotherapy training. I abide by the BACP ethical framework, including ensuring your confidentiality.
Practice description
I offer in person sessions on Thursday daytimes on the Kings Road in Chelsea in central London.
My consulting room is peaceful, private and very comfortable, and has step free access via a lift. Located a convenient 3 minute walk from Sloane Square tube station, it has good transport links to Victoria, Kensington, Knightsbridge and Clapham Junction.
I can offer both short-term or open ended therapy depending on individual needs. Embarking on a therapeutic journey can feel daunting, and finding the right therapist can be difficult, so I offer an initial no-obligation 15 minute Zoom consultation. This is an opportunity to discuss any questions that you may have and to think about how we might work together.
