About me and my therapy practice
There are times in life when it feels as though everyone else comes first.
You may have spent so much time caring for others, meeting expectations or putting your own needs to one side that somewhere along the way you have lost sight of yourself. You may find yourself questioning who you are, struggling with confidence or self-esteem, finding it difficult to set boundaries, or wondering what you actually want from your own life.
Counselling can give you the space to stop and focus on you.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what is happening for you. Together, we can explore your experiences and how they may have shaped the way you see yourself, while beginning to recognise beliefs, thoughts and patterns that may no longer be helping you.
I work in an integrative way, which simply means I can draw on different ways of working depending on what you need. At the heart of my approach is the belief that you know yourself and your life better than anyone else. I won't tell you what you should do or push you in a direction that doesn't feel right for you.
Sometimes you may simply need the space to be heard and understood. At other times, you may want help making sense of why you feel or respond in a particular way, or you may feel ready to look at something differently and try another approach. We can decide together what feels helpful, always working at a pace that feels manageable for you.
Practice description
I am a qualified counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and significant life changes. I have also worked with people affected by cancer, those who have a caring role, and people who have experienced domestic abuse.
I value difference and diversity and have experience working with people from a range of backgrounds, identities and life experiences. I aim to offer a space where you can feel accepted and able to be yourself.
My aim is not to tell you who you should be or what choices you should make. It is to help you understand yourself more fully, develop confidence in your own decisions and begin letting go of things that no longer serve you.
I primarily offer counselling online, with some face-to-face appointments available at The Practice Rooms in Twickenham, subject to room availability.
Sessions are 50 minutes and can be weekly or fortnightly.
My standard fee is £60 per session, and I have a limited number of concessionary spaces available for people on a lower income.
It is never too late to rediscover who you are and make choices that feel right for you.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation, either online or by telephone. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you are hoping for and whether you feel I may be the right counsellor for you. There is no obligation to book further sessions.
If you decide you would like to continue, our counselling sessions are 50 minutes and we can discuss whether weekly or fortnightly sessions would suit you best.
Our first counselling session gives us time to begin exploring what you would like support with and what you hope to gain from counselling. There is no pressure to tell me everything at once; we will work at a pace that feels manageable for you.
