About me and my therapy practice
Welcome, I’m Sarah. A BACP registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in Brighton and Worthing. I work both face-to-face and online.
With over 15 years’ experience working in the social care sector with adults, children and families, I bring proficiency and compassion to my work.
I have experience working with a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, substance misuse, life transitions, chronic illness and body image.
Alongside completing my postgraduate training at The University of Brighton, I also work as a qualified Social Worker with both adults and children.
Through this avenue, I have been able to support individuals in what might be some of the more challenging periods of their life- such as mental health crises, chronic and acute illness, and family and relationship issues. I have also worked with a broad range of clients in a charitable/ low-cost counselling service.
Practice description
Although my therapeutic training was humanistic and I use an existential framework- I take an integrative approach, meaning I am flexible in my framework depending upon the unique needs of the person I am working with. This allows for a more holistic approach to working with each person and honours their individuality.
As a registered member of the BACP I adhere to their ethical framework. This means a commitment to upholding professional standards, attending regular supervision and committing to ongoing continuing professional development.
My first session
I offer a free initial telephone consultation. Finding the right therapist can be a challenge so it is important that you feel comfortable with the person you are working with and we can briefly explore what you hope to get out of the sessions during this initial call.
I also offer an initial session for a reduced rate of £45 with no obligation so that we can explore if we think that we can work together.
During our first session, we will go through the counselling contract so that you have an idea of what to expect and some administrative items. Once you are settled, we will usually explore what has brought you to counselling.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor. With over 15 years’ experience working in the social care sector with adults, children and families, I bring proficiency and compassion to my work.
I believe that effective therapy is rooted in the therapeutic relationship. Central to my work is creating a safe, supportive and collaborative therapeutic space, where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and beliefs, and develop greater self-understanding and emotional awareness. Therapy offers time and space to reflect on what matters to you and what gives your life meaning.
I aim to offer therapy that is compassionate, hopeful and thoughtfully challenging, supporting change at a pace that feels right for you. I have experience working with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse, substance misuse, life transitions, chronic illness and body image issues.
Therapy provides an opportunity to explore your inner world and to be understood as a whole person, within the wider context of your life experiences. Finding the right counsellor is an important part of the therapeutic process, and I welcome you to get in touch to discuss what you are hoping to gain from therapy and whether working together feels like the right fit.
