About me and my therapy practice
I am a Transpersonal Integrative Psychotherapist, which means I adapt how I work with clients depending on their presentation, using a range of modalities. I aim to help my clients find a balance between mind, body and soul, reconnecting with their authentic self.
I work with children, adolescents, adults, parents and families, online and in person in Twickenham, as well as working in schools. My particular interests include autism and ADHD, anxiety, identity, relationships and intimacy, boarding school experiences, men's issues, trauma, grief and loss.
With children I work creatively and systemically, often using non-verbal techniques to allow a young person to communicate, which I may integrate through conversations with parents and school staff. I also offer parent consultations to explore what may sit beneath a child's behaviour and how their developmental needs, neurodivergence, relationships, family and school experiences may be contributing.
I am a UKCP-accredited Child Psychotherapist (CCAP) and Registered Member of BACP. I have additional training in autism, sandplay and psychotherapy with ex-boarders, and am licensed by the National Autistic Society to deliver Teen Life.
Alongside this, I am currently completing a Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy with CICS and work with adults around sexual function, desire, sexuality, intimacy and relationship diversity. I also facilitate men's groups and have a particular interest in men's relationships, identity, intimacy and life transitions.
Practice description
I start with a 20 minute call for you to give me a brief overview of what has brought you to seek help, and for me to explain a bit about how I work, where I am based, fees and expectations. Then we agree a starting date and move into face-to-face sessions.
I create a warm, safe environment to explore your material in a non-judgemental space. Much of the work begins as traditional talking therapy, going into detail about your situation and how it is affecting you.
We will naturally open up the sessions to explore how your material impacts your current relationships with family, friends and colleagues so that we can reflect on your early life and how that has moulded who you are today, as well as how you might learn from this to move forward.
I do not give advice or tell you what to do, rather we discuss your difficulties and discover various options, how you feel and what you might do to help yourself or those around you. I may challenge you to face your shadow, the parts of yourself that are hidden or shut off.
Oftentimes talking is not enough and so I use creative imagination techniques to listen to what your soul is trying to say, what your body is feeling, essentially finding a way to unravel what your mind cannot process or communicate.
Some of these practices are visualisations, healing through breath and sound, drawing and family trees to explore intergenerational patterns and trauma.
When appropriate, I also think systemically about the relationships, family, school, culture and wider environment around you, rather than viewing difficulties as existing solely within the individual.
My first session
After our initial call, I send through an assessment form to complete and an agreement with details around confidentiality, payment terms and such. Once I have received the forms and payment for the first session, I shall confirm you are booked in.
The first few sessions are usually spent going over the assessment form with any new information and the agreement we have in place, getting used to the environment and setting the therapeutic container so that we can start on our journey through your material, together.
