About me and my therapy practice

There are so many reasons why people come to counselling, but I believe a common starting point is a desire to talk to someone who is trustworthy, professional and accepting. I offer a space where you can speak honestly, and be listened to carefully, empathically, and without judgement. Working together we have the opportunity to consider new perspectives, and look in a deeper way at how your experiences and relationships have shaped how you view yourself and others.

I work in an ethical, sensitive and collaborative way, that honours and respects your own unique life experience. My training comes from the person-centred approach which means I am led by you regarding what you want to discuss and explore, negotiating with you at regular intervals how long you would like to continue for. I believe you have within you the resources, ability, and capacity to find freedom from the things that keep you stuck in your difficulties and prevent you from moving forward. It would be a privilege to be alongside you and work with you in this process.

Practice description

I have a level 5 Advanced Diploma in Counselling and work with adults experiencing a wide range of issues. My counselling experience has included working with difficulties such as relationship breakdown, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, identity issues, grief, trauma and miscarriage/fertility issues. I offer a free introductory session to get to know each other and give both of us the opportunity to consider whether I am the best person to support you. There is no pressure to continue if my style or experience does not fit with what you feel you need – I understand it is a very personal and important decision. My training also encompassed how to work specifically with spirituality, so I am comfortable and encouraging of clients who want to explore this aspect of themselves.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) which requires me to adhere to their ethical framework, including my responsibility for confidentiality. I receive regular clinical supervision and continually develop my knowledge and practice through continued professional development courses and reading.

My first session

A free 30 minute online introductory session is a good way for us to make contact without any pressure to commit. Finding the right counsellor and a good connection is important so this allows time to see how we might work together, and is an opportunity for you to ask questions.
