About me and my therapy practice
There are many reasons to embark on personal therapy, from experiencing anxiety, grief, depression or perhaps you’re feeling stuck or wanting to explore your life in a supportive and empathetic environment. Therapy can offer a transformative experience, which can be both challenging and rewarding. My philosophy is that therapy allows us to grow our capacity to be with ourselves more fully. I aim to provide a space for you to reflect on, question and listen to your own understanding of yourself and work together to make sense of and find a way through painful experiences. As part of my practice, I bring a commitment to looking at the ways oppression and socio-political factors influence and shape our lives and believe this is an important aspect of our work together.
Finding a therapist can feel like a daunting process, particularly when you’re having a hard time. If you are interested in working together, send me an email and I will arrange for an introductory session to see if we are a good fit and talk about how we might work together. I work both online and in person.
Practice description
I am a warm, empathetic and supportive therapist based in Ramsgate, Kent.
I’m a BACP accredited integrative therapist, which means I have trained in many therapeutic approaches. This means that I am holding many different ways of working with you, rather than trying to fit you into one model. I trained in this way because I believe each of us is unique, so there is no one way of working therapeutically. My integration includes existential therapy, body psychotherapy, relational therapy and psychodynamic therapy.
I have several years of experience as a therapist, both in a private setting and in services. I have worked in a hospice providing bereavement counselling and in a University where I was a therapist for the students, with a focus on LGBTQIA+ students.
Prior to training as a therapist, my background was in community organising, charity management, and arts management and I have a MA in Social Anthropology from Edinburgh University. I also completed a self-led Masters on spiritual formation through social justice and community organising.
