About me and my therapy practice
Hello hello! I’m Liz Heald. I'm an Integrative Counsellor and CBT & DBT Practitioner based on the Wirral.
WELCOME TO HEALD THERAPY
My surname has always felt like it was meant for me. I’ve always been drawn to helping people on their journey - whatever that journey may look like...
I set up Heald Therapy because I wanted to create a proper professional space where people could feel genuinely heard, understood and safe to be themselves. A place that isn’t one-size-fits-all, and where you don’t have to arrive with everything figured out.
Wherever you find yourself, we work together at your pace.

Practice description
What Therapy With Me Feels Like
Person-centred at the core:
My core approach is Person-Centred Counselling - which is exactly what it says on the tin. It centres around creating a therapeutic space tailored entirely to you as an individual.
I believe every person’s journey, experiences and needs are different. No two people are the same, so therapy shouldn’t be either.
Integrative & tailored:
As an Integrative Counsellor, I adapt sessions to whoever is sitting in front of me and whatever they’re carrying.
Alongside Person-Centred work, I’m also trained in CBT, DBT and Psychodynamic approaches (Level 5 Diploma in CBT and Level 3 in DBT). This means I can bring in practical tools and strategies when they’re helpful, without forcing a particular way of working.
For some people, sessions are mainly a space to explore things openly. For others, it can feel more structured - focusing on things like anxiety, emotional regulation, overthinking, low mood, self-esteem or patterns that feel stuck.
Structured support when helpful:
Where it feels right, we can also work together on clearer goals or a tailored plan, so the work stays focused and meaningful for you.
My first session
Prior to starting therapy, I offer a free 20–30 minute initial telephone consultation, allowing space for you to ask any questions you may have and decide whether therapy with me feels like the right fit for you.
The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other and exploring what may have brought you to therapy. We will also go through any practical or administrative elements together, alongside a brief initial assessment for record purposes.
There is no pressure to share everything immediately and we move entirely at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
