About me and my therapy practice

I'm Keith, and I offer solution-focused counselling from The Practice Rooms, Clifton, Bristol BS8. I bring 15 years of experience working in the NHS across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Somerset in Community Mental Health Teams.

I am a clinical lead for developmental trauma and a DBT therapist in my current NHS role, and have an interest in treating complex trauma and personality disorders, but I am also very experienced in working with depression, anxiety of all types, bereavement, relational difficulties including attachment, and significant life change.

My approach is solution focused counselling, and I am DBT and EMDR trained alongside my core training in both Counselling and Mental Health Social Work, and often integrate these models to help you move forward in life. I like to use the key principles of mindfulness, breathwork and behavioural theories which are woven throughout my work, to enhance your recovery and wellbeing.

I'm confident in the positive change that counselling can offer, and I welcome you to contact me for an initial consultation.

Practice description

I work best with clients who are searching for a fast paced and comprehensive experience of therapy, including a balance of practical solutions to what is preventing them from reaching their goals.

They might be seeking a style of therapy that differs from other models they have tried, and they will be open to some looking inward, seeking insight, but also expect sessions to be lively, change focused and valuable.

We will likely work together initially to create a formulation of how your difficulties may have materialised, using theories of attachment and trauma. Safety, stabilisation and practical ways of coping are woven into this formulation, creating a bespoke blueprint to help you move forward. DBT skills might aide us with this.

We might then look to process unresolved, problematic or "charged" experiences or memories, should this be needed.

My first session

In our first session we hit the ground running and establish our goals, any blocks you might be aware of, and any previous experience of therapy. Our first session is a very full session, lasts one hour, and is chargeable at the usual fee.
