About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome. I am a BACP registered humanistic, integrative counsellor working online and in person with adults in North London.

Attending therapy can be helpful when we notice we are struggling with our life circumstances, our relationships or our sense of wellbeing.

You might feel anxious and overwhelmed, low in mood & confidence; maybe suffering with difficult thoughts. Perhaps you are living with loss, the impact of a difficult childhood, interpersonal trauma, or from other distressing life events. You may have questions about your identity or purpose.

Therapy can help us to make sense of our feelings, emotions, behaviours and relationships. And as a humanistic counsellor I believe that feeling fully seen and understood in the presence of another can support this process so we can gain clarity about how we relate to ourselves and to others. I also believe that you are the expert of your own life and will have the answers within you to find a way forward that is right for you.

I seek to create a warm, accepting and welcoming environment where you will feel able to explore what is important for you and understand your needs more fully. A space that will enable you to acknowledge your lived experiences and their impact and move towards meaningful change.

We will work together collaboratively and at your own pace to enable you to be present to your emotions and understand your ‘felt sense’ of what is happening within you and in your relationships. With compassion, we will bring gentle attention to any self beliefs, harsh inner voices or relational patterns that might be getting in the way of you feeling at ease, connected and fulfilled and learn new strategies so that you feel more able to take the next steps in your life.

I offer an inclusive practice that is respectful of your identity, sexuality, gender, neurodiversity, ethnicity, culture, beliefs and personal choices. I am committed to being anti-discriminatory in my approach.

Practice description

Training & practice experience: My training has covered a range of approaches, including person-centred, gestalt, systemic, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural therapy. This allows me to work flexibly and responsively, according to your changing needs.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, Postgraduate Certificate in Child, Adolescent & Family Mental Wellbeing and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Social Studies with Diploma in Social Work.

I have an enhanced DBS

I attend regular clinical supervision in line with BACP requirements and ongoing personal training and development across a range of issues. This has recently included Adhd & Women, Working with relational Trauma: dealing with disorganised attachment, Compassion Focused Therapy, Working with Mother Daughter Relationships, Trauma and the Body.

My current practice frequently includes supporting survivors of childhood trauma and domestic violence, sexual violence, work with complex grief, family relationship difficulties, managing difficult emotions, low confidence & shame.

I previously worked for 2 years with Headstrong Counselling online low-cost service, as well as an NHS funded Talking Therapy service within a Camden based women’s centre. I currently work for Headstrong Pro and in private practice.

My first session

I offer an initial 20-minute telephone session (no charge) where we can briefly discuss your hopes for counselling, explain how I work, and answer any questions you might have. I will discuss my fees and availability. This brief session will be a chance for us to see if I am the right therapist for you.

If we decide to move forward, I will share my contract and offer you an appointment for a 60-minute initial session charged at the agreed rate. I will request some personal information including your GP and emergency contact details, date of birth, address, and any relevant medical conditions. This information will be kept in accordance with Data Protection legislation and is to ensure we can proceed with therapy in a safe way.

The session will provide an opportunity for you to understand more about the therapeutic relationship and process.

I may take some brief notes.

Towards the end of the session, I will ask how you feel about continuing further. You can take time to think about this. If you do decide to continue, I will ask you to agree to the terms of my contract. Future sessions are for 50 minutes.
