About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Juliette, a qualified integrative counsellor working with adults.

Attending therapy can be supportive for many reasons. It could be that you have reached a stage in your life where you feel it might be helpful to take time to connect with yourself, discuss a difficulty you are facing or to explore your sense of well-being.

Perhaps you experience feelings of anxiety or overwhelm, persistent worries, low-mood, or difficulties in your relationships. Maybe you have questions about your identity or purpose, or you are struggling with grief & loss, interpersonal trauma, or other distressing life events.

Therapy can support you to understand your emotions, behaviours and your relationships. As a humanistic integrative counsellor, I believe that in the right circumstances, feeling seen and understood in the presence of another can enable a sense of relational safety and healing. I also believe that you are the expert of your life and have the answers within you to uncover your authentic way of being.

I seek to create a warm, accepting and welcoming environment where you will feel able to explore what is important for you and understand your needs more fully. A space where you can make sense of your feelings and behaviours and acknowledge your lived experiences and their impact.

We will work together collaboratively and at your own pace to enable you to be present to your emotions and understand your ‘felt sense’ of what is happening within yourself and in your relationships. Using a compassionate approach we will bring gentle attention to responses or relational patterns that might be getting in the way of you feeling at ease or connected and learn new strategies so that you feel empowered to take the next steps in your life.

I offer an inclusive practice that is respectful of your identity, age, ethnicity, culture, sexuality, gender, neurodivergence, disability, beliefs and personal choices. I am committed to being anti-discriminatory in my approach.

Practice description

Training & experience: My training has covered a range of approaches, including person-centred, gestalt, systemic, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural therapy. This allows me to work flexibly and responsively, according to your changing needs.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, Postgraduate Certificate in Child, Adolescent & Family Mental Wellbeing and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Social Studies with Diploma in Social Work.

I bring a breadth of life experience to my practice gained through 25+ years of working alongside people from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds during periods of challenge and distress. This includes work as a mental health social worker and with a specialist trauma informed project supporting women on release from custody.

I previously worked for 2 years with Headstrong Counselling low-cost service, as well as an NHS funded talking therapy service within a London women’s centre.

Current practice: I work online with adults from a range of differing backgrounds and intersecting identities. This includes work for Headstrong Pro. I offer in-person therapy based from a women's centre (Women and Health) in Camden/Kentish Town where I am available to work with women.

The centre is a short walk from Kentish Town West overground, Gospel Oak overground and Chalk Farm underground. The centre can also be reached via a short bus journey from Camden.

My first session

Please email me so that we can arrange an initial 20-minute telephone session (no charge) where we can briefly discuss your hopes for counselling, how I work, and I can answer any questions you might have. I will discuss my contract, fees and potential availability. This brief session will be a chance for us both to see if I am the right therapist for you.

If we decide to move forward, I will offer you an appointment for a 60-minute initial session charged at the agreed rate. This will be an opportunity for you to understand more about the therapeutic relationship and process.

At the first session I will ask more specific questions about your history. I will also request some personal information including your GP and emergency contact details, date of birth, address, contact details and any relevant medical conditions and medications. This information will be kept in accordance with Data Protection legislation and is to ensure we can proceed with therapy in a safe way. I may take some brief notes.

Towards the end of the session, I will ask how you feel about continuing further. You can take time to think about this. If you do decide to continue, I will ask you to agree to the terms of my contract.
