About me and my therapy practice

Not everyone knows where to start or how to open up, and that is not a requirement for reaching out.

I work with anyone who wants to become more than they feel they currently are.

Hi, I'm Mark and I run You+ Counselling.

I practice Pluralistic counselling, which means I work to your preferences and at your pace, using a range of counselling modalities that suit you as an individual rather than assuming there is one single approach that works for everyone.

I offer both face-to-face and online sessions, with an initial chat to allow you some time to see how we might work together before agreeing a way forward.

Practice description

Counselling offers a space where you can talk openly about the things that may feel difficult to discuss elsewhere.

As a Pluralistic counsellor, I believe therapy works best when it is shaped around the person sitting in front of me. Different people find different approaches helpful, so we work collaboratively to explore what will be most useful for you.

Some people come to counselling because something in life feels stuck or overwhelming. Others want to understand themselves better, work through difficult experiences, or gain clarity about the direction they want their lives to take.

Our conversations may involve reflection on past experiences, exploring patterns in the present, or focusing on practical changes you would like to make moving forward.

You do not need to have everything clearly worked out before starting counselling. Often the process simply begins with a conversation about what feels important to you at the time.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin discussing what has brought you to counselling.

We will talk about what you would like to gain from therapy and explore whether the way I work feels like a good fit for you. I may ask some questions about your background and current circumstances to help build an initial understanding of your situation.

You are also welcome to ask questions about how I work or about counselling more generally.

There is no obligation to continue after the first session. If we decide to work together, we will agree a way of working that reflects your preferences, your pace and what you would like to achieve through counselling.
