About me and my therapy practice
I understand that reaching out for support or speaking to a counsellor for the first time can be quite a daunting experience. I am a warm and empathetic counsellor and I try to create a space that feels as safe as possible. I am also happy to have a conversation about what this means to you, and what I can do to support you to feel comfortable in the sessions.
This is your counselling journey, and I would like to find out about your hopes, expectations, needs and preferences for counselling so that I can try to meet these as far as possible. My training is integrative, which means that I can draw on different approaches and attempt to find the best way of working with each individual client.
I am experienced in providing counselling for survivors of trauma, and specifically in working with adults who have experienced some form of sexual violence, either during childhood or as an adult. As well as my counselling experience, I have a professional background of working in charities supporting survivors of domestic abuse and people who are living with HIV. You do not need to have experienced any of these things to be able to work with me and I have worked with clients who have come to counselling with a wide variety of different issues.
If you are interested in working with me I am happy to arrange a free telephone call so that we can have a chat and think about whether I might feel like the right counsellor for you before you book your first session.
My training and qualifications:
Certificate in Working with Trauma
PGDip Counselling and Psychotherapy
MA Gender, Media and Culture
