About me and my therapy practice

Hi I'm Sue. I want to offer time just for you to pause and ponder, and help you to find your own path. My main background is grief counselling. Sometimes saying things out loud helps untangle thoughts and open gates to new ways. Being honest and non-judgemental builds trust that enables self-awareness, growth and change.

I have a level 6, BA (Hons) Degree in Counselling.

I am currently with a local hospice, have worked in Probation, Age UK and Pregnancy Crisis, unexpected pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth and abortion.

I can also offer Blue Cross trained, Pet bereavement.

I specialise in loss, grief, bereavement counselling, which actually connects through many avenues of life, from work, redundancy, relationship changes, illness, accidents, unwanted pregnancy, pet rehoming, young people leaving home (empty nest), moving to another country, going into care or being carer (changes in life and circumstances).

I offer counselling for general life difficulties and stressful situations, which could include panic attacks, depression, anxiety, low mood, feeling fed up and lost, weary and disappointed with life, low self-esteem, feeling trapped, suicidal thoughts, young widow, unsure about future, finances and decisions, relationship issues / abuse, affairs, bullying, problems at work, carer support, chronic fatigue/ ME and more...

Whilst there are many issues that arise in life and are unique to you. I have found in my own journey and with experience, that people want to be listened to, valued, not criticised or judged.

The Person-Centred approach which I use, believes that people have their own answers within and given the right conditions and environment use their own intuition, innate drive, desires to move life forward. You lead, not me. The relationship we develop is the therapy, is the exploration and understanding, is the hope.

Practice description

I hire a room in a local well-being centre and offer 50 minute sessions, once a week on the same day and time. If you can't make a particular week and want a different day or time, I am happy to be flexible and discuss this.

The amount of sessions are down to you, but I usually suggest about six, but it can be less or more, and reviewed regularly.

It is about your time and what you want to discuss, explore, understand, influence or change. Time to pause, take a deep breath, be still and hear yourself think; and maybe open a gate that might be blocking your direction.

I believe in the power of self-awareness, discovery, informed choices and acceptance, rather than feeling stuck or trapped. We all need some form of dream and hope.

Working together, being alongside, offering care and support can help bring about changes.

My first session

I offer the first session at £30 and after that sessions will be £45.

This will be a chance to meet for 50 minutes or less and give you time to share what brings you to therapy, see how I work and whether we feel comfortable and could work together.

At some point in this first session, if you want to go ahead with further sessions. I would complete an assessment, as its important to know some formal information and contact details. There will also be a contract to sign.

Payment is due at the end of the session, either cash or bank transfer. An invoice will be provided.
