About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps you’ve been managing for a long time, but something has changed. You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low, stuck or simply exhausted from trying to keep everything together. You may be struggling with confidence, relationships, grief or a difficult life transition. Or perhaps you can’t quite explain what’s wrong – you just know you don’t feel like yourself.
Whatever brings you to counselling, you don’t have to arrive with everything worked out. We can start with where you are.
I offer a warm, genuine and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and feel heard. I believe that being understood – perhaps in a way you haven’t experienced before – can be an important part of healing and change.
I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I don’t believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all. I draw on person-centred, CBT, psychodynamic, attachment and trauma-informed approaches, tailoring our work to you and what you need.
I’m interested in looking beyond the immediate difficulty to understand what might be underneath it. Together, we might explore your experiences, relationships, emotions, thoughts and patterns of coping, while also considering practical ways to help you manage what life is bringing you.
I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role isn’t to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you, offering curiosity, compassion and a different perspective when it might help. We’ll work collaboratively and at a pace that feels right for you.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, depression and low mood, grief and loss, low self-esteem, confidence difficulties, relationship difficulties, feeling stuck and life changes.
Taking that first step can feel daunting. You don’t have to know exactly what you need before getting in touch. We can begin by talking about what’s brought you here and see whether working together feels right.
Practice description
I offer a calm, welcoming and confidential space where you can step away from the demands of everyday life and have time that is genuinely for you. My aim is to create an environment where you feel comfortable being open, honest and yourself, without fear of judgement.
I work with adults and offer both online counselling across the UK and face-to-face counselling in Northampton. Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, although we can talk together about what feels right for you.
I understand that choosing a counsellor is a personal decision, and that finding someone you feel comfortable with really matters. I aim to build a warm, trusting and collaborative relationship where you feel listened to, respected and supported.
I work with a range of concerns including anxiety, stress, depression and low mood, grief and loss, self-esteem and confidence, relationship difficulties, feeling stuck and significant life changes.
I provide a professional, ethical and trauma-informed service, with your privacy and wellbeing at the heart of my practice. I work within the BACP Ethical Framework, maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality, and engage in regular professional supervision.
My practice is not about telling you what you should do. It is about having a space where you can slow down, make sense of what you are experiencing and begin to understand what you need.
You don’t need to wait until things feel unbearable to seek support. Counselling can also be a space to pause, understand yourself better and consider what you want your life to look like.
My first session
Starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you have never been before. There is no expectation that you will arrive knowing exactly what to say or where to begin.
Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and talk about what has brought you to counselling. We can explore what you are finding difficult, what you would like support with and what you hope might be different as a result of therapy.
I’ll explain a little about how I work and we can talk about confidentiality, boundaries and anything else you would like to know. I may ask some questions to help me understand your circumstances, but this is a conversation rather than an assessment you need to “pass”.
You are welcome to ask questions too. Finding the right counsellor is important, and I want you to have the opportunity to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
We’ll work at your pace. You don’t have to tell me everything in the first session, and there is no pressure to have a clear plan straight away. Sometimes simply having a safe space to begin talking can be an important first step.
Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly. We can agree together what feels appropriate for you as we go.
