About me and my therapy practice
I understand the pressures men face and the difficulties in opening up - it takes balls to be vulnerable! You don’t need to be perfect; in fact, embracing your imperfections can lead to growth and better relationships. I offer a space to explore who you are, how your past affects you, and how to move forward with more clarity and strength.
Before training as a therapist, I spent over 20 years working in various corporate environments as an accountant. This background helps me understand the pressures of demanding jobs, high expectations, and the impact of stress and burnout—especially for men in professional roles who may find it difficult to talk about how they’re feeling.
In my counselling work, I’ve supported a wide range of people, including men in prison, many of whom were facing addiction, trauma, or deep emotional pain. I also have experience supporting people through grief and loss, creating space for feelings that are often unspoken or hidden.
If you’re neurodivergent (including autism or ADHD), I understand how early experiences of not fitting in can affect self-esteem and anxiety. Therapy can help make sense of these challenges and support you in building confidence and self-acceptance.
If you’ve been told you’re too controlling, distant, or find it hard to express your feelings, we can work on developing better communication skills, so you feel more connected and confident in your relationships.
Helping people to face up to their difficult emotions, instead of avoiding them has been meaningful work to me.
While every person is different, many stories have common themes that are familiar from my personal and professional experience. This can help you to explore your own feelings and perceptions.

Practice description
I specialise in helping men with their anxiety and mental health, particularly:
• Understanding and managing stress and anxiety
Anxiety, panic attacks and depression can prevent us from leading a full life. Anger-management issues can damage jobs and relationships.
• Depression and emotional struggles
Men are often told to ‘man up,’ which can make it hard to acknowledge feelings of sadness or hopelessness. You’re not alone, and it’s okay not to be okay. In fact, talking about it could save your life as men are three times as likely to take their own lives than women.
• Developing self-awareness to heal from past trauma and loss
Unresolved issues such as loss, abuse or a difficult childhood (or just the way we were raised) can also push us towards coping strategies, such as alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex and other addictions.
• Improving communication skills to navigate relationships more confidently
This is an area where we can make change. By improving self-awareness of how we tend to respond (sometimes where that came from), we can be more successful in relationships. We can share our feelings and communicate our needs more effectively.
I have a lot of experience in supporting people through loss - accompanying them or helping express feelings. Often these can be taboo, or ‘not allowed’, but letting them out helps people to move on.
My approach is humanistic and person-centred. I respect people's individuality and potential for growth. We’ll work together in a way that fits you, not force you into a box.
I’m a relational therapist and believe that relationships are responsible for how we see ourselves and, often, for the difficulties we are in. Sometimes we approach relationships in a way that hurts us and others.
The relationship between you and me will be important in making counselling work or not. If you don’t grow to trust me, we won’t get much done. I might not be the right therapist for you and that’s OK. I haven’t met anyone I’m unable to work with yet though.
My first session
It can be hard to get started but you’ve made it this far! Send me a message through here, or my website, to arrange either:
• Free 15-20 minute phone call or Teams chat
• A paid initial session to give you the time and space to explore what you’re looking for and if we’re a good fit for each other.
In our first session, we will briefly run through a counselling agreement and establish if you have a goal for counselling or if you have any preferences about how you want to work. We can review as the work progresses.
Please check your spam folder if you haven’t received a response within a couple of days.
