About me and my therapy practice
Are you trying to rediscover your sense of self after a controlling, toxic, or abusive relationship? Have you been left doubting your feelings, thoughts, or worth, and wondering how to move forward?
If you are experiencing anger, anxiety, panic attacks, nightmares, flashbacks, hypervigilance, emotional exhaustion, or a sense of self-doubt, you are not alone. Trauma — including narcissistic emotional abuse — can leave you feeling stuck in survival mode, as though you are existing rather than truly living. Therapy can help you find your way back to yourself.
I am a UK-based psychotherapist specialising in trauma and narcissistic emotional abuse. I work with individuals who are in the process of leaving, or who have already left, abusive relationships and want to break trauma bonds, rebuild self-worth, and heal the impact of long-term emotional harm. These relationships can be intimate, family, work or friendship.
As both a trauma therapist and a survivor of domestic abuse, I bring professional expertise alongside deep personal understanding. I support clients with trauma bonding, coercive control, emotional manipulation, and co-dependency. I can support you making sense of how abuse affects the mind, body, nervous system, and future relationships.
Our work together will be trauma-informed, compassionate, and work with the crossover between mental health, trauma, abuse and neurodivergence. Together, we can gently explore and process feelings of shame, guilt, fear, confusion, and grief, while helping you reconnect with your inner strength, boundaries, and sense of identity.
You deserve to feel safe within yourself again. Healing from trauma and abuse is possible.
I offer a free discovery call where we can talk informally about what you are experiencing and whether working together feels right for you. Please reach out if you feel ready to take the next step in your healing journey.
Practice description
I work primarily with individuals who are in, trying to leave, or have left abusive family or partner relationships and want to shed trauma bonds and rebuild their self-worth. Abuse, whether emotional, psychological, or physical, can have a profound effect on your sense of self, your confidence, and your ability to trust your own thoughts and feelings. My work focuses on helping you process these experiences in a safe and supportive environment, so you can regain control over your life and start to feel like yourself again.
In addition to my specialism in abusive relationships, I have worked successfully with clients experiencing a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, attachment difficulties, co-dependency, ill-health, neurodivergence, and LGBTQ+ matters. I also have experience supporting teenagers and young adults, helping them navigate the unique challenges they face during this important stage of life.
I hold a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I offer both online therapy across the UK and in-person sessions from therapy rooms in Morley, Leeds, LS27. My approach provides a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore feelings that may have become overwhelming, gain clarity, and develop practical strategies to manage your emotions. Seeking support when you are struggling can bring relief and help you reconnect with your strengths and resilience.
I have also trained in creative therapy techniques specifically with young people and work with children and adolescents from the age of 14 upwards. My sessions with younger clients aim to combine therapeutic guidance with creative approaches to support emotional expression, self-awareness, and coping skills in a safe and supportive setting.
I offer a trauma-informed approach tailored to your individual needs. You do not have to face this alone – therapy can provide a space for healing, growth, and reconnection with yourself.
My first session
I understand how daunting it can feel to take the first step into counselling, and I know that choosing a therapist is a personal decision. To support this, I offer a free discovery call online or over the phone, giving you the chance to ask questions and explore what you hope to achieve through therapy.
If you decide to proceed, we can arrange sessions at a day and time that suits you. I offer both online and in-person sessions, though availability is limited, so early booking is recommended.
Our first session will focus on what you would like to achieve and the issues you wish to explore. This helps us shape therapy around your goals. Weekly sessions are recommended to build the therapeutic relationship, but fortnightly sessions can also be accommodated if that works better for you.
Sessions are £65 and last 50 minutes. In-person appointments take place at the Leeds Treatment Rooms, Morley, LS27 9AN.
I aim to respond promptly to enquiries, and I am here to support you as you begin your journey toward healing and self-discovery. Taking that first step can feel scary, but you do not have to do it alone.
Warm wishes,
Lisa
