About me and my therapy practice

I work with individual adults on a range of issues including building confidence, coping with anxiety and depression, traumatic experiences, loss and much more.

I take the view that each one of us is unique and there is no single approach that can treat every person I work with. For this reason I practise using an integrative approach, which means I bring together different elements of specific therapies in a bespoke model that responds to each individual’s needs and preferences. For example that might mean using a psychodynamic approach to understand how the past is affecting the present. It could be trying some practical CBT or mindfulness-based exercises to deal with a recurring issue at work. It might mean using the Internal Family Systems model to try and explore different parts of yourself. Or we might try a Gestalt technique to deal with a challenging relationship. Every one of us is different, and we'll work together to find a gently tailored, flexible approach that is most helpful for you.

Practice description

I like to offer my clients a generous, authentic and congruent  space where they feel heard and understood in a way that allows them to connect with their most authentic self.

Carl Rogers, one of the founders of person-centred psychotherapy, once wrote “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

Whether you are brand new to therapy or not, together we will work towards a deeply felt sense of self-acceptance for all the different parts of you. Collaboratively we will set achievable goals, adjusting and fine tuning the practice as we go. We will explore and understand your thoughts and feelings with warmth and compassion, learning and growing as we travel on this journey of growth together.

My first session

I offer a free, no-commitment 15 minute consultation, where you have the opportunity to tell me a bit about yourself, ask any questions and establish whether we might be the right fit for each other.

After that our first session will include a straightforward assessment, where we'll go through some questions and establish some goals for our sessions together. I like to review our work as we go, so usually every six sessions we will take some time to look at our progress and adapt the sessions as necessary.

All sessions are 50 minutes long and my fees for these are £60-90 depending on circumstances and income.
