About me and my therapy practice

I'm here for whatever's real for you: anxiety hijacking your plans, depression whispering that nothing's worth it, grief crashing in like it owns the place, self-worth ebbing away. I'm here to unpick those knots with you. Talking helps.

We’re going to skip the jargon-laden psychobabble and meet in the real, messy middle of life. The kind of moments where your brain spins out over the smallest thing, and your heart just can't make sense of it.  Anxiety, overthinking, the dips of depression — whatever’s hijacking your day — I’m here to help you unlock the door and find your own kind of freedom.

Counselling is about carving out a space for you where the heaviness is heard, the confusion makes sense, and you can start to feel more like you again — even on the days when that feels impossible.

Talking really does help.

Practice description

I'm a counsellor, but, more accurately, I'm a down-to-earth human. Like you I’ve been in situations where your brain spins so fast it could launch satellites, where the weight of anxiety or grief hits like a ton of bricks, or where life suddenly feels, well… not okay.

My style is pretty-straight forward. I don’t get caught up in therapy jargon. I don’t use big words or try and blind you with science or theory. I listen carefully and ask questions because I want to better understand what’s happening for you and, together, find a way through it. My wide-ranging life experience means I can offer empathy and compassion for your life experiences. Sometimes I may gently challenge you. I will always support and encourage you. I will never judge you. I will always respect your courage for coming to counselling.  Talking helps.

My first session

When you first get in touch, we’ll set up a free 15-minute chat — phone or video. It’s a low-pressure way to see if we click, answer your questions, and decide on next steps.

We can meet in person at The Kensey Centre, Launceston, Cornwall (Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays) or online on other weekdays or evenings. Before your first session, I’ll send you my Client Agreement so you know exactly what to expect.

Our work together might last a few weeks or longer — it’s completely down to your needs. We’ll review regularly to make sure you’re getting what you need.

In our first session, you walk in (or log on). We talk. Sometimes you’ll cry. Sometimes you’ll laugh. Sometimes you’ll swear or be angry. And sometimes, we sit in silence — and that’s all totally okay.

Sessions are 50 minutes — just long enough for a deep dive, not so long you’re looking longingly at the door. You can choose whether it’s in person or on screen. My job? To meet you where you are and help you find a way through.
