About me and my therapy practice

Relationships can reach a point where conversations become arguments, silence replaces connection, or you find yourself stuck in the same painful thoughts and feelings. Whether you're facing a relationship crisis, recovering from a betrayal, adjusting to change or loss, or simply feeling distant from someone important in your life, therapy can help you make sense of what is happening and find a way forward with greater clarity.

I work with couples and individuals navigating relationship difficulties, betrayal, loss, and experiences that have left them doubting themselves or struggling to trust others. Many people come to therapy feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of their own feelings, needs, and decisions.

Over the years, I have come to believe that many relationship difficulties are not caused by a lack of love or care. More often, people become caught in cycles of misunderstanding, hurt, disappointment, or silence. When trust has been damaged, whether through betrayal, abandonment, difficult family experiences, or painful relationships, these patterns can become even harder to break.

Therapy offers an opportunity to slow things down and understand what is happening beneath the surface. Together, we can explore the experiences and relationship patterns that may be keeping you stuck, while developing greater self-trust, emotional steadiness, and more supportive ways of relating to yourself and others.

When working with couples, I help both partners feel heard and understood. I do not take sides. My role is to support you in having conversations that may have become difficult, helping you understand one another more clearly and find a way forward that feels right for both of you.

Practice description

People come to therapy for many different reasons. Some arrive with a clear understanding of what they want help with, while others simply know that something isn't working but struggle to put it into words.

My role is to provide a space where you can slow down and talk openly about what is happening in your life and relationships. Together, we take time to understand what has brought you to therapy, what feels most important, and what you hope might be different.

I work with both couples and individuals. When working with couples, I aim to create an environment where both people feel heard and understood, even when conversations have become difficult or painful. Rather than focusing on who is right or wrong, we look at what is happening between you and explore new ways of understanding and communicating with one another.

For individuals, therapy can offer the opportunity to reflect on relationship patterns, process difficult experiences, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the choices you are facing.

I don't believe there are quick fixes when it comes to relationships or emotional difficulties. Meaningful change often begins when people feel able to speak honestly, reflect openly, and look at themselves and others with greater curiosity and compassion.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin understanding what has brought you to therapy.

You do not need to have everything worked out before you arrive. Whether you come with a clear concern or simply a sense that something doesn't feel right, we will take time to explore what is happening and what you hope might be different.

If you are attending as a couple, each of you will have space to share your experience and perspective. My role is to ensure that both voices are heard while helping us begin to understand what may be happening within the relationship.

The first session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of me and how I work. Finding the right therapist is important, and it is perfectly okay to take time to decide whether it feels like a good fit.

About me and my therapy practice

Do you find yourself having low self-worth and confidence issues, are you experiencing feelings that are overwhelming and difficult to deal with? Perhaps you have difficulties within your relationships, including separation and divorce. Are family or work relationships challenging and perhaps you find yourself becoming angry, easily overwhelmed, or feeling powerless, shut down, anxious, and or depressed? Maybe you are struggling with change and the uncertainty that brings. The impact of relationship difficulties can feel enormous and may affect all areas of our lives. The world can feel like a stressful place and trying to balance our work and personal life can leave us feeling emotionally, mentally, and physically drained.

I understand that thinking about starting therapy can at first feel scary, especially if you have never experienced it before, but, having a private space where you can focus on yourself and work through your difficulties can be a relief.

Practice description

I believe under the right conditions i.e., when we feel accepted and met with care, and support, we have a tendency to move towards what we need in life. Many of us early in life learn that some of our feelings and needs were not accepted by others leading to us finding it difficult to accept them ourselves. This may mean that we abandon our needs and parts of ourselves to adapt and this can lead to many forms of distress such as depression, anxiety, shame, shutting down, or numbing out.

When we feel truly accepted by another human being, we are better able to accept ourselves. If you come to counselling with me, I will provide a warm, accepting, supportive, safe place where we can explore your needs and feelings together. When accepting our needs (for example, safety, love, belonging and relationships, respect, excitement and stimulation, meaning and expressions, and releasing anger) we better meet our own needs, leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life. When working together, I will support you and be fully present in your experience and I will facilitate the work but you will set the pace and depth that you want to go to, learning to trust yourself along the way.

I am a qualified, registered integrative counsellor, offering weekly counselling sessions to individual adults on a long- medium- or short-term basis. I provide online, and telephone sessions to best meet your needs.
