About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling overwhelmed, scattered, or like something important is missing from your life? Whether you're living with anxiety, navigating the challenges of ADHD, or facing the deep pain of loss - you're not alone. These experiences can show up in so many ways: racing thoughts, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, emotional outbursts, sadness, guilt, or numbness. They can shake your sense of identity, affect your sleep, strain relationships, and leave you feeling stuck or disconnected from the world around you.
You might be grieving the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or even the life you thought you’d be living by now. Or perhaps you’re simply exhausted by the effort it takes to hold everything together.
In our work together, I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can begin to make sense of what you’re feeling, explore your experiences at your own pace, and find practical, supportive ways to manage life’s challenges - with more clarity, confidence, and self-kindness.
I'm Zara and I’m a therapist working online with adults and young people. I work with clients all over the world and specialise in supporting people with the search for identity, direction, or the life you thought you'd have.
You might want to work with me around challenges linked to ADHD, or things like sexuality, gender or relationships—or you might have something completely different on your mind. Whatever brings you, you're welcome here. You won’t find me trying to link your difficulties to parts of your identity you're already comfortable with (something many people have experienced in more traditional counselling settings). If you're queer or neurodivergent, you won’t need to spend your sessions educating me—I bring lived experience of ADHD and professional experience supporting people across the LGBTQ+ community.
What I can help with
ADD / ADHD, AIDS/HIV, Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Identity issues, Infertility, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
Types of therapy
Brief therapy, Existential, Humanistic, Integrative, Person centred, Relational, Solution focused brief therapy, Transactional analysis
Clients I work with
Adults, Older adults, Young people
How I deliver therapy
Long term sessions, Online therapy, Short term sessions, Telephone therapy, Time-limited

About me and my therapy practice
Feeling overwhelmed, scattered, or stuck? You might be living with ADHD, anxiety, or depression - or feeling the impact of loss, burnout, or life not turning out how you expected. These experiences can show up as racing thoughts, emotional overwhelm, low mood, difficulty focusing, or a sense of disconnection from yourself and others.
You may be navigating an ADHD diagnosis (or waiting for one), questioning your identity or direction, or feeling exhausted from holding things together for everyone else. Many of the people I work with are capable, thoughtful individuals who feel frustrated by how hard things feel internally.
I’m Zara, a therapist based in Manchester, offering face-to-face sessions in the city centre and online therapy across the UK. I specialise in working with ADHD, anxiety, and depression, as well as issues around identity, self-esteem, and loss - including the loss of who you thought you’d be or how you thought life would feel.
My core training is in person-centred therapy, and I’m currently completing a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT, allowing me to integrate practical tools alongside reflective, relational work. As a therapist with ADHD myself, I bring both professional expertise and lived understanding, while keeping the focus firmly on your unique experience.
In therapy with me, you’ll find a calm, non-judgemental space where you don’t need to perform or have everything figured out. We’ll work at your pace, helping you make sense of what’s going on, develop emotional clarity, and build ways of coping that actually fit your life.
If this sounds like what you’re looking for, you’re welcome to get in touch to arrange a free, no-pressure introductory call, or to book an initial session.
Practice description
My practice offers a thoughtful, inclusive, and grounded space for adults seeking support with ADHD, anxiety, depression, identity, and emotional overwhelm. I work in a way that is collaborative, respectful, and tailored to you - there is no pressure to present yourself in a certain way or to already know what you want to talk about.
Clients often come to me feeling frustrated, stuck, or exhausted by trying to function in a world that doesn’t always make space for difference. You might be exploring an ADHD diagnosis, questioning aspects of identity, or simply wanting support with low mood, anxiety, or life transitions. Whatever brings you, you’re welcome to bring your whole self.
I work primarily from a person-centred approach, creating a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard and understood. Alongside this, I integrate CBT-informed tools where helpful, offering structure and practical strategies as well as space for reflection. As someone with ADHD, I bring lived understanding alongside professional boundaries and training - you won’t need to educate me about neurodiversity or queer identity in order to be understood.
My practice is affirming of LGBTQ+ identities and neurodivergence, and I aim to work without assumptions or pathologising. Therapy with me is about helping you make sense of your experiences, develop self-trust, and find ways of coping that fit your life, not someone else’s expectations.
Qualifications and training include:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (in progress)
- Certificate in Adult ADHD
- MSc Counselling and Psychotherapy
- Certificate in Trauma-Focused Therapy
- MA Social Work
- BA (Hons) Philosophy and Psychological Studies
My first session
Before your first session, I’ll send you a short form and a copy of the therapy contract for your information.
This allows us to spend the full session focusing on what matters to you, rather than paperwork. We’ll use this time to get to know each other, explore your goals, and discuss how therapy could be most helpful. Many clients find this first session a relief and a safe space to start unpacking challenges, and it’s also an opportunity to ask any questions about the process.
Whether you’re new to therapy, exploring ADHD support, or seeking help with anxiety, depression, or life transitions, the first session is designed to be low-pressure, collaborative, and tailored to you.
