About me and my therapy practice

I’m Ciara (MSc, MBACP), a warm, friendly and down-to-earth psychotherapist working with children, teens, students and young adults. If you’ve been scrolling for a while unsure where to start, I get it. Looking for the right therapist can feel overwhelming when you’re already carrying so much.

If you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, low mood, low self-esteem, friendship difficulties, family challenges or loss, you don’t have to face it alone.

In our sessions there’s no pressure to have everything figured out. We’ll go at your pace, exploring what feels important to you while gently challenging when it’s helpful, always respecting your voice and your story. My approach is kind, collaborative and human, and I aim to create a calm, safe space where you feel heard and understood without judgement.

Therapy is a place where you don’t have to pretend or filter what you say. I’ll meet you where you are and support you in making sense of your experiences.

If you’re feeling stuck, sad, angry, overwhelmed, lonely, worried or scared, you’re not alone. Together we can explore what’s going on for you and find ways to better understand and manage your emotions.

Practice description

My approach is person centred, which means you are at the heart of the process. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and therapy is a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, without pressure or judgement. We work at a pace that feels right for you, focusing on what matters most in the moment.

I’m also an integrative therapist, which means I draw on different approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. I work in a creative and trauma informed way, being mindful of how past experiences can affect how we feel today. Sometimes we may use gentle creative tools such as drawing, writing or visual exercises if talking alone feels difficult. Above all, I aim to create a space where you feel safe, heard and understood, so you can talk openly and begin to make sense of what you’re going through.

I have over 3,000 counselling hours and more than 10 years’ experience working in schools, youth services, social care and counselling organisations including The Lowdown, Mable Therapy and 42nd Street, as well as in private practice. I’ve supported people from many different backgrounds, including children, young people, students, creatives and professionals, who may be feeling overwhelmed or looking for more balance and clarity in their lives.

My first session

Whether this is your first time seeking support or you’ve tried therapy before, we’ll work together in a way that feels comfortable and right for you. I know that reaching out for support can feel daunting, so you’re welcome to email me, text me, or we can arrange a free 15-minute phone call. This short chat gives you a chance to ask questions, get a sense of how we might work together, and see if it feels like the right fit.

Your first session is really just a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask questions to understand what’s brought you to counselling and what you'd like support with, but mostly it’s a space for you to talk, be heard, and go at your own pace. We’ll explore your needs, set some initial goals together, and chat about how therapy might work for you, whether that’s short-term or longer-term, weekly or fortnightly.
