About me and my therapy practice

Hi, and welcome. I'm Marion, a qualified and experienced Integrative Psychotherapist.

I am available to work online  with adults and younger people (11+)

My approach to working with clients is grounded in openness, honesty and warmth. Drawing from person-centred theory, I often incorporate other therapeutic modalities into our work together, such as transactional analysis and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), whilst focusing on both the mind and the body.

What matters most to me, is that our developing therapeutic relationship, alongside your individual needs and experiences, remains at the heart of our work. I aim to create a supportive space where we can be open and curious. A space you can feel heard, understood and able to explore what is important to you.

When i am not working, I am often out walking my dog, spending time with family or trying to learn something new! I love all animals, yoga and the sea.

Who do I work with?

I naturally and intuitively often work with neurodivergent individuals, especially those who consider themselves to be autistic, have ADHD, or Developmental Coordination Disorder (Prev. Dyspraxia).

As a neurodivergent person myself, I offer a wealth of professional expertise as well as my own lived experience. I am very aware of the many strengths, difficulties and complexities that can come with being neurodivergent living in our current environment.

Additionally I have a vast amount of experience working with adults experiencing a multitude of neurological conditions and supporting their carers/families.

I also offer supportive, non judgemental, therapeutic parent sessions, for parent/s who may have children or families with complex needs. These families may have an array of other services involves and I am well equipped to advocate for and work along side families and other professionals.

Practice description

How we will work together?

There are many reasons why you may be considering therapy. It might be for something very specific or perhaps for a multitude of reasons. You may not even know quite why you are seeking support or what you want from it.

The world we live in can sometimes feel fragile, unforgiving, and difficult to navigate. I truly believe that exploring ourselves openly and honestly, within a trusted therapeutic relationship, has the potential to introduce us to a much deeper level of understanding, acceptance, curiosity, and possibility.

You may feel lost, disconnected, or unable to move forward. Perhaps you are repeating patterns or cycles that you don't know how to change. You may have leaned on coping strategies that are no longer serving you. Perhaps you are feeling exhausted, anxious, or unwell and would like to find some balance and understanding.

Whatever the reason, we work together to deepen your understanding of and connection to yourself, your feelings and emotions, your environment, and your relationships. We can explore and reflect at a pace that works for you, making sense of what may be happening, whilst finding ways to draw on your internal and external resources and to increase your self-compassion.

We can stay in the present moment and work on the here and now, or we can begin to piece together a lifetime of experiences to help us understand how you have arrived where you are. Either way, such exploration can strengthen your understanding, which may enable acceptance or even navigate change, in whatever form this takes.

My first session

Following an initial 15 minute call, I will email you a contract to have a read through and sign. We can go through this contract together at the first session.

I will complete a short client questionnaire with you, to deepen my understanding of what has brought you to counselling. This will include collecting your basic personal details such as next of kin’s contact and GP details. I aim to gain some understanding of the issues you are facing and how I might be able to support you. This assessment and any other written work or notes made are held securely under data protection/GDPR.

During this initial session we can explore how you would like us to work so that I can ensure a collaborative relationship. We will establish our working boundaries and arrange following sessions. We can discuss anything you want to during each session as staying within your frame of reference is the most important aspect to my work.

There is no specific time limit on how many sessions we can have although we will talk about this on an ongoing basis. Some people choose to have time limited sessions of 6 to 12 sessions, or for some the work can be ongoing and longer term.

If there is anything else you would like to know please do get in touch.
